Big Brother: Jen-Vicious Makes No Friends
Episode 5 Recap by Jenny Lane
July 16, 2007
Zach, Mike and Dustin are in the kitchen listening to Jen, who is in the bathroom putting on makeup. By the way, if you can't find Jen, she's somewhere putting on makeup. The guys talk about how much Jen talks about herself, and Zach says that he's going to drink every time Jen says "I." After a few minutes, Jen joins the guys in the kitchen and continues to put on makeup, despite the lack of a mirror. While she stands there and talks about herself, Zach continues his I=drink game, and of course Jen never catches on. In about three minutes, Mike has to take at least a few dozen drinks. The guys have finally figured out a way to tolerate Jen blabbering on and on about herself.

Jen runs through the house and asks everyone to come see her HoH room. She says "I'm so nervous for everyone to see my pictures!" (Remember, she had a meltdown when she saw her picture on the wall that she didn't think was flattering.) Everyone but Dick puts on a happy face and followed Jen up to the HoH room. There are pictures all over the room, and Jen says "I'm so upset with my pictures" and tells us that she was disappointed because she expected more recent pictures and "like, I don't need ten pictures of my family, I just need one, I'm really upset, I wish I could like, take them down, I'm really upset with all of them." She takes one picture of her mom and her down because she wasn't any makeup at the time. She tells us "like, there was a picture of my 21st birthday, and I'm like, 23." I did notice that Big Brother seems to be doing less decorating than they have done in the past, and the rooms are much less done up than they used to be.

Joe stays in the room with Jen after everyone else leaves, and asks Jen if he can convince her to put Dustin up. He reminds her that originally, they were going to try to get rid of the three rivals, Dustin, Dick and Jessica. Jen tells us that she doesn't trust Joe, so it sounds like his efforts were in vain.

In the backyard, Mike and Nick are lifting weights together, with Zach and Dustin looking on. They called them "Magnus and Cragnus" who are competing for the strongest man in the world. Zach puts on a fake Ahnold voice and gives a silly commentary on their weightlifting.

That night, Nick and Daniele continue their flirting in one of the bedrooms and remind me of two junior high kids who are pretending not to flirt. That's probably because Daniele supposedly has a boyfriend back home, but probably doesn't by now. Nick hands Daniele the "key to my heart" which is actually the key to his suitcase, but is still cute, in a cheesy way. I think Nick genuinely likes her. so we'll see where that goes.

Jen talks to Kail about who to nominate. They're talking about Daniele and Dick. Jen says that she doesn't want to eliminate a girl, so they talk about possibly putting up Joe and Dustin. Then Jen brings up Nick, but doesn't think he'd be evicted. Of course Kail doesn't want Nick put up, because he's in her alliance, so she changes the subject and refocuses the discussion on others.

It's time for the food competition, and everyone gathers outside. There is a gameshow set called "Name That Pie." The houseguests divide into two teams, a red team and a blue team. The teams turned out to be six buys on the blue team, and five girls plus Joe on the red team, which made me have to pause the show a second to laugh.

Jen is the Host of the game, so we'll see if she can read all of her cards correctly. Behind her is a big board with about 60 ingredients listed. The ingredients range from apple to sausage to crickets. Jen tells the houseguests that each pie contains two ingredients from the gameboard. For each round, one contestant from each team will challenge their competitor to name the two ingredients in the pie in the least number of bites, like "Name that Tune." The one who chooses the fewest number of bites has the chance to name the ingredients and win a point. If the person fails, the other team gets the point. The first team to get seven points wins the game and food for the week, and the losing team is on slop.

The first round starts with Dick and Jameka (who my husband calls Jamaica). Jameka says that she can name the pie in five bites, and Dick tells her to do it. By the way, I told my husband that I typed in his comment, and he said "that makes me look racist" and I told him that no, "it makes you look dyslexic!" Jameka takes her five bites of bacon and banana pie, and immediately identifies the bacon. After she finishes her bites, she guess bacon and banana correctly, and wins the point for the red team.

The next round is.....
