The Biggest Loser: Made? Over! Whelmed? Under!
Recap, Commentary and Rankings by RTVC Senior Staff Writer Donna Emery

This week on the Biggest Loser, the contestants were supposed to get makeovers.
The only one who truly looked different was Becky.
The episode began with a classic Biggest Loser event; the contestants had to “put all their weight back on” and shed it again.
This challenge takes place every year, but this season’s version seemed somehow anticlimactic.
And, knowing John’s fervent competitive streak, it was no surprise to see him overcome his extra burden (since he’s lost more weight than anyone else) and win the challenge.
He also won a one-pound advantage, which was why he worked so hard to win.
The challenge came first, this week, because it was the week all the contestants have been waiting for: makeover week.
It was doubtful the show could do much with the guys, although they all looked better cleaned up and in nicer clothing.
But, all of a sudden, John had turned into Grizzly Adams – complete with a beard.
I don’t remember him having a beard, but no comment was made about it and it was nicely trimmed for his makeover.
Semi-celebrity Jeannie Mai was on hand to help the contestants choose their makeover outfits and her energy level and enthusiasm was over the top.
She had loads of supposedly cool phrases to throw at the contestants and lots of encouragement for them to choose complimentary outfits.
Except for Sunny, I think she led all of them in a good direction.
The men all looked great – especially (I hate to admit it) John.
Sunny looked OK, but she should have chosen something with at least caplet sleeves; to de-emphasize her arms.
Becky looked absolutely sensational. Even hostess Allison Sweeney was shocked at how different Becky looks.
Ken Paves is a veteran of Biggest Loser makeovers and he did what he could with the contestants’ hair (or, in Antone’s case, lack of it). Becky’s shorter style truly compliments her face.
From past seasons, we all knew to expect a loved one to show up and surprise the contestants and each reunion was touching and heartening.
It was nice to see them all have a welcoming hug and tender words from their surprised partners.
