The Biggest Loser: The Path Of Most Resistance
Recap, Commentary and Rankings by RTVC Senior Staff Writer Donna Emery

Make up your mind.
This week on the Biggest Loser, once again there was plenty of whining about how hard it is – and two near-resignations.
So much for “no excuses.”
Watching some of this season’s contestants I have to wonder if they watched any of the past shows before coming to the Ranch.
What did they think was waiting for them?
Massages and laying on chaise lounges at a resort?
When they left their lives and families behind; did they not expect to miss them terribly?
And did they try out for a TV show and not realize there would be – gasp! – TV cameras?
I just don’t get it.
I can’t speak to how hard the regimen on the Ranch actually is; but it looks like intense physical labor.
I can’t attest to the quality of the food, because we see so little of what they’re eating unless one of the trainers is hawking a sponsored product.
And, although it’s easy to imagine how we might feel about leaving our families behind for an extended time, every person’s reaction is different.
But this season, we’ve had Ben “volunteer” to be the first person sent home; Joe leave in the third week this week, Christine got bent out of shape about the ever-present cameras – and then wondered if she should also pack it in; while Conda questioned why she’d even come.
We’ve all heard about the millions who try out; the thousands who go back year after year in hopes of getting to the Ranch – and yet we have so many, this season, who doubt it was worth the effort.
Is this season so much worse? Or do we just have a more-wimpy-than usual cast of contestants?
Be that as it may, this week we had a shorter episode and it seemed so much more enjoyable without the constant rehashes and repeated scenes.
The episode began with the teams gathering for the challenge. The teams would work together; carrying a battering ram through an obstacle course.
At each of four stations, they’d answer a nutrition question. They’d then bash in the door that corresponded to the answer they’d chosen.
