The Biggest Loser: Bye Bye Orange
Commentary by RTVC Staff Writer Kathleen

Time for Bob to
let her go.
Before I start, one small rant about the trainers and that very odd
discussion they had about who needed to stay and how they could help.
If that wasn’t mostly editing, it was just plain wrong.
Also wrong headed.
Neither of the trainers has that much power. What I hope is that the
actual discussion was Jillian trying to get Bob to quit being so creepy and
focused on Amanda and to get back to work on everyone.
Amanda has a bad crush on Bob, to the detriment of her long term weight loss goals. Bob,
on the other hand, has a bad crush on cutie pie Amanda and that is both
wrong and inappropriate.
Jillian sees it. All of America sees it. Go take a cold shower, Bob.
Rant over.
Both Daniel and Shay are gone.
I’m going to miss Daniel. He’s a good kid and a genuine role model for
others. He was really the only person still on the ranch who truly was in
it for personal change and a lifetime of health.
Shay, on the other hand really didn’t seem to know why she was there.
Obviously we, and everyone on the planet, know how big she was and what a
good idea it was for her to get smaller and healthier no matter what
method she chose. But, Shay’s deep down reason for being there was the
attention.
Shay has had a hard life. Noted. Shay fed her unhappiness until it grew
473 pounds. (Did I get that number right? She quotes it often enough).
Every week Shay trotted out her statistics right down to the fraction.
She was the largest woman ever. She was the biggest person there. And
lately the repetition, ad nauseum, of how much harder anything was for her
because of her poundage. Last night we got the first one within two
minutes of the start of the show and it was followed by five more before
the elimination.
It’s a virtual product placement for Shay.
Enough already, Shay. There is no special set of rules on the Biggest
Loser for those who are huge just because they ARE huge. So quit
harping. A couple of those guys were huge too, Shay, and they don’t
complain and ask for special favors.
The playing field is not level. It’s not level in real life either.
Whoever told you life was fair lied.
Sadly, I don’t think Shay has as yet started caring about herself. She’s
still going after artificial goals. Her speech asking to not be
eliminated was all the right words about being after health not the prize
but it was just words. She’s just not there yet.
I want to care about Shay. I don’t.
Her self-indulgent misunderstanding of Rudy during the hoops challenge and the resulting tantrum put the last
nail in that coffin for me. It’s all about Shay and how other people
should give her a break, or cut her some slack, or accommodate her needs
because she’s so big.
No Shay. This is a contest.....
