The Biggest Losers: Letting Go Of the Fat Person
Commentary and Recap By RTVC Staff Writer Donna Emery

This week on the Biggest Loser, lots of emotional baggage was shed – along with the usual pile of pounds.
The episode began with a somber night scene, illustrating the Black team’s mood after Dina’s elimination. As the team emerged from the elimination room, the Blue team looked closely to figure out who was gone.
Rudy wasn’t thrilled to realize his former partner was missing. But he’d figured that with Danny’s immunity, Dina would probably be the one to go.
Liz was also sad about Dina’s elimination.
Amanda tried to explain her reasoning: “I have friendships on this team and I want to be sure I had people by my side that would support me, so I had to choose Dina. Danny had immunity, so the choice was Dina.”
Abby chimed in that they did “what you do, in elimination. She was the one to go.”
Daniel tried to say they hadn’t wanted to do it. You hadn’t wanted to volunteer to go home, either, Daniel. Daniel told the Blue team it was difficult.
Liz disagreed. “It wasn’t difficult. Kiss my ass. Danny had a high percentage of weight loss and so they stuck together and picked off Dina. Let’s see what happens this week if Danny’s immune again. They’ll have to do one of their friends in, then. They don’t yet know what difficult is.”
Rudy didn’t say anything, but he let his exit from the room speak for him.
Allison Sweeney began the week with a “Pop Challenge”. (I always expect these to feature popcorn, pop tarts or pop guns…) She told the contestants they are now halfway through the competition. She reminded Rudy he is only 13 pounds away from losing 100 pounds. She also told him if he does it this week, he will break the Biggest Loser record set by Dane, last season. Rudy humbly said he’d do his best to break the record. He also said that “anybody can do this if they try. Maybe you can’t lose 100 pounds in 7 weeks, but you can do it in 7 months or 10 months. Just push yourself!”
Allison went on to explain why the contestants were gathered. This week was to be “Face Off week”. The contestants would go “head to head” against a member of the opposing team. At the weigh in, whichever of the duo had a higher percentage of loss would earn a point for their team. The team that got the highest number of points would win; the losing team would have to send a member home.
Shay knew what to expect. “I remember seeing this last year. Kristin had Felipe’s picture on her treadmill. If I have to compete against just one person this week, they’d better Bring It because I am gonna Kill It!”
Allison continued by saying whichever team won the Pop Challenge would get to choose who on their team would face off against the other team.
Rebecca wanted that advantage for her team. “Any advantage is a good one,” she knew. She didn’t want the Black team to win the challenge.
Allison told them one member.....
