The Biggest Losers: A Monumental Workout
Commentary and Recap By RTVC Staff Writer Donna Emery
November 8, 2009
This week on the Biggest Loser, the contestants took a road trip to Washington, D.C.

The episode began in the elimination room, with both teams gathered to hear Allison give a pep talk. She encouraged them to take advantage of their time on the Ranch, but also reminded them their appearance on the show has allowed them to become an example to others who want to lose weight and live a healthier life. She reminded them there is currently an "obesity ecedemic" in the USA and told them they could play a part in stopping it. In order to do that, she told the gang they would be going on a trip to Washington, D.C. She breezily told them she would meet them in front of the Jefferson Memorial and sent them off to pack.

Everyone was happy at the prospect of a road trip, and excited to be going to Washington. On the way there, many told how they were looking forward to the trip. Rebecca revealed that she is a Political Science major and hoped she might get to meet President Obama. Rudy and Liz were happy to find they could sit in a seat without a seat extender. Allen was cheerfully saying, "Watch out, D.C, here comes the Biggest Loser!"

That drew more smiles, and an even more manic expression from Tracey. Bob was happy the show was being brought to the nation's capital; Biggest Loser had never been there before, and Bob felt it "validated the show's message."

Allison told them they were starting their Washington trip at the Jefferson Memorial, because Jefferson had been a patriot who fought for individual rights. Accordingly, Allison cheered them by telling them they would now be competing as individuals.

This brought a positive response from everyone; they had survived the show until the individual stage. Daniel said, "We came here alone, and now we are fighting for ourselves again. We are in charge of our own journies."

Allison addressed Shay, and reminded her that, of the five contestants who had begun the show at more than 400 pounds, she alone remained in the 400s. But Shay was optimistic; she had only 2 pounds to lose before breaking through that barrier and she was sure it would be "her week".

In order to "raise their voices" about.....
