The Biggest Loser: When Losing Is Winning
Commentary and Rankings by RTVC Staff Writer Donna Emery

The Biggest Loser.
This week on the Biggest Loser, the contestants of season 8 showed us how they’ve changed their lives, and their looks.
There were “oohs” … there were “ahhs” … there were “awws” and there were even a few “yikes!” moments.
In other words, it was a typical finale.
Going into the last show of this season, it seemed pretty apparent either Rudy or Danny would win the big prize; to me, the biggest suspense would come from who won the at-home prize, and from how the transformed contestants would look. The winning moment was great, and good for Danny – but, somehow, it seemed like a bit of an anti-climax.
There wasn’t much suspense, for me, as to whether Liz or Amanda took the third place in the final three. When Amanda won, I shrugged – although I could have done without Allison telling her she was now “America’s Choice, twice.” Ugh. Good for Amanda; she looked very sweet, and she’s earned the right to be proud of herself.
And America’s earned the right to forget about her, unless she’s featured on a future “Where Are They Now?” special.
Liz looked matronly, and strangely quiet. Her husband didn’t look enthused to be there, and it seemed like she’d already accepted her inability to win any of the night’s prizes. I wish her the best, and hope she takes her own advice and makes her own happiness a priority.
I was thrilled to see how well the Red team has done; both Sean and Antoine looked wonderful. Sean already looked young; now he looks like a freshman. How cute that he named his daughter Jillian. Alexandra still has some weight to lose, but her body is nicely proportioned, and she and Antoine look so happy together. Good for them for loving each other when both needed it the most; here’s wishing them lots of love and blessings for their upcoming marriage. Julio? I didn’t like him at all during the season, but holy COW does he look good NOW! Best wishes to him.
The next group brought a few surprises, although Mo looks pretty much the same, body-wise. He seemed quiet, but serene. I wish him the best. Dina looked sweet, although like Alexandra, she could lose a few more pounds. I didn’t recognize Abby at all, but was so glad to see her looking happy, healthy and as beautiful on the outside as she seems on the inside. May her “inner light” continue to shine. Tracey looked almost skeletal, especially about the face. And who told her the finale was a formal affair? She has definitely dropped a lot of weight.
For a few minutes, I thought Tracey might have won the at-home prize. Certainly, she has the lowest weight, in numbers. But Rebecca (who looks NOTHING like the Rebecca we’d come to know) won it, by losing 139 pounds. That is amazing, although I felt her hairdo and miniskirt were a real mistake. Shay looks so much thinner and prettier. Good for her for losing 172 pounds, and for getting that Subway deal. I hope she takes the company for a few hundred thousands. Daniel has definitely shaped up, and I am happy for him. I wondered what had happened, with his relationship with Rebecca, but I read in one of the reality websites today that he and Rebecca are still dating – and considering living together. I wish them both the best – together, and separately. Allen looks like a slimmer version of himself. Always handsome and personable; he can put out a fire in my town any time!
So the game came down.....
