No more fat clothes.
This week on the Biggest Loser, the rivalry between the Blues and the Blacks heated up – and we heard O’Neal and Sunshine bonding so much; I thought I’d somehow switched to a Lifetime movie, by mistake.
The episode began by reminding us the Black team had beaten the Michael team (I mean, the Blue team). O’Neal was left in the kitchen, awaiting the results. He was glad he was going to join the Blue team, since it was Sunshine’s team – but what if it wasn’t?
At first, O’Neal was just scared Sunshine might be eliminated. Then, he started getting nervous. Nervous led to maudlin. “I don’t want her to go home,” O’Neal cried. I can’t be here without her. What good is it for me to be on the Blue team without Sunshine?”
When the members of the team filed into the kitchen, O’Neal kept looking up – and didn’t see Sunshine. With one member left, O’Neal’s maudlin mood had turned to anger. Just as Sunshine walked through the door, O’Neal somehow had convinced himself she had been eliminated – and pounded his fist on the table, in anger.
That left a pretty confused Sunshine to walk through the door, with O’Neal’s blue shirt.
“Don’t get so worked up,” she chided him. “I’m not going anywhere.”
O’Neal choked up when he looked at his daughter. “She is truly the sunshine, in my life. I was scared.” He thanked the members of his new team.
“Put on your shirt, Uncle,” Michael told him. O’Neal thought the shirt felt great.
Sunshine obviously shared her dad’s view: she didn’t want to think about being on the Ranch without him.
O’Neal said he was sorry Miggy had had to go home, but vowed not to live in the past. He turned and addressed the team. “Let’s act like a team. We’re each like fingers, but together all of us fingers make a fist. We’ve got to rise up to the occasion, every day.”
Koli wanted to be sure the team wouldn’t lose again. They all gathered together, for a team cheer: “Let’s beat Black!” they all chorused.
The week’s challenge came early in this episode. The contestants gathered to find two long trucks and some crates of food; with hostess Allison Sweeney waiting for them.
Allison greeted them and reminded them they’d had something most people don’t get: 60 days without distractions; working on their weight loss goals without worrying about their jobs, family obligations, etc. “But that doesn’t last forever,” she reminded them. “Some day you must all go home and resume your busy schedules. This week is going to be Work Week.”
She went on to tell them they’d each be working a “full time job” at the Los Angeles Food Bank. They would all be riding the bus to work, and then helping at the food bank, eight hours a day. In order to do this and fit in their workouts, they’d have to squeeze them in around a schedule, since the gym would only be open from 6am until 7pm.
Purple’s Stephanie thought this would be a good test for her; she admitted she has a high-pressure job, at home. She knew she’d have to learn to fit her workouts into her schedule and to plan her food. Michael was much less excited, but was proud of the ability to help at the food bank.
O’Neal was thrilled. He revealed he’d had some tough financial times with his family. Since they’d been in a position where a food bank could have helped, he was happy to have a chance to help others.
Allison told them the.....
