This
week on the Biggest Loser, there was a procession of losers.
And
every single one of them is a winner.
The
evening began with images of the final four walking on stage as their
former fat selves. We all knew they’d come a long way from
those images and were ready to see which of them would be crowned the
winner.
Next
came hostess Allison Sweeney, beaming as always in a lovely red dress
which clearly shows she has shed all her own baby weight. “And
it’s all happening live!” she shouted, as a full audience
shouted their supported. Signs appeared all over the auditorium;
each cheering on their favorites.
We
had the usual flashbacks to the first weigh in for our final four.
We got to see – yet again – their speeches to the crowd
after they saw their starting weights. We got highlights of the
season and many moments of trainer yelling. Then, Allison revealed
the Biggest Loser scale, and we had our first product promotion,
since the grand prize was to be provided by Yoplait Light.
“One
promise can go a long way,” Allison said – and proved it,
by revealing that this year’s contestants had lost more than
2500 pounds collectively. She then reminded us we still need to
find out who America had voted to become the third finalist.
As
if there was any doubt.
First,
she introduced a beaming Daris. Although his frame didn’t look
much lighter than the last time we’d seen him, there was a
definite difference in his face. He looked more relaxed and
confident in a suit jacket and jeans.
Allison
asked Daris if he’d been able to tackle the problem of late
night eating. Daris told her he’d had to figure out where his
stress was coming from and to deal with it. He’d also had to
learn to manage his time better, since eating his last meal at 5pm
when he stayed up late every night wasn’t working for him.
Daris
had some good news, since he’d now found a girlfriend. She was
a pretty blonde who was sitting in the audience and cheering her on.
Good for you, Daris.
Next
came Koli, who inexplicably roared fiercely, as he came on stage. He
was wearing some really bright red pants, and unmatching suit jacket
and looked much thinner. Allison asked Koli how he feels.
“It’s
been a long journey,” he acknowledged. “Before this, I
didn’t know who I was. Now I know who I am. I am proud of
myself.” He hesitated and went on. “Don’t mistake
my confidence for cockiness.”
Too late, Koli.
After
the inevitable.....
