Duets: Sob Stories, Sleazy Thicke And The First Elimination Recap and Commentary by RTVC Staff Writer Sharon-anne Osenenko
June 8, 2012
Mr. Sleaze
Welcome to Duets. Can you feel my joy?
Okay, it’s not really Duets that I’m grumpy at.
I spent the entire day painting my house and it’s not half done yet. And I’m on a diet. If you follow me on FaceBook, you are, no doubt, sick to death of reading about my diet. So I won’t whine about it. Too much.
Still, I wish I could figure out what I dislike about this show.
Maybe it’s not just one thing. Maybe it’s a couple things. I don’t feel invested in anyone, and I’m not even interested in the “superstars.”
Got thoughts? Post them at the end.
Also? Have I mentioned how frightened I am of Robin Thicke’s hair?
We open with Quddus voice overing about how the show works. We know. Sort of.
He tells us that tonight the bottom two will have to sing for their lives in an acapella showdown.
Oh, that doesn’t sound fun at all.
And now Jennifer and John are singing. They’ve got the music in them, apparently. I’m gonna go get a drink. Someone let me know when this part is over.
Okay, so I did actually fast forward most of that, but caught Jennifer’s last run, where she sang “I’ve got the ma-YOO-sic in me!” and hilarity ensued in my living room. Moving right along.
Quddus --whose name is now Qutie, thanks to my comment buddy, dallas41-- asks us to clap for John and Jennifer, and then Kelly and Robin, who haven’t actually done anything.
I am pleased to report that, despite his threat last week, Robin Thicke is not wearing a speedo.
Oh yay, a recap of last week. I saw all this already.
Qutie says that the artists tonight will be paying homage to the songs and singers that inspire them.
He asks Robin how he feels about his team being low on the chart last week, and Robin says something about how falling is good because it makes you improve. Then he says that they’re Team Underdog.
Maybe that’s what’s on his head? Underdog?
We get a piece with Robin talking to Alexis and Olivia. He says that he feels their fear.
Alexis is feeling the pressure this week and doesn’t want to go home.
