Dancing with the Stars: Bottom-Dwellers Stay Afloat While Olympian Sinks!
Commentary and Rankings By RTVC Staff Writer Joseph Braverman

No medal this time.
Wow, did they really just send Natalie home this week on Dancing with the Stars? To be fair, I was going to rank her very low this week seeing as how her Paso Doble left me colder than a trip across Siberia. However, her leaving before consistent bottom-dwellers Michael Irvin and Louie Vito is a total travesty. Natalie’s dancing may have made me jump ship and put my faith in better dancers, but my god I really was not expecting her to go home this early.
However, it did happen, and even though Aaron and Karina were in the bottom two with Natalie, Natalie and Alec were the more deserving of going home.
For starters, I could not stand their rehearsal footage. Week in and week out, the two are far too serious, always fighting, and never care about putting passion in the dance. In fact, I entirely blame Alec Mazo for this. As with Toni Braxton, who also left far too early in her season, Alec cares little about showing personality and likeability than he does with being a perfectionist. I say everyone petition for him to be fired – he does his partners a complete disservice, and I honestly believe Natalie would have made it to at least the semifinals if she had a better partner.
I may not be a fan of Maks, but at least he brings a personality to the dance floor and attempts to do the same with his partners. Alec Mazo on the other hand is cold, standoffish, and disrespectful to his partner that I can understand why viewers would hesitate to vote for anyone he is partnered with. Yes, he did win Season One with Kelly Monaco, but that season was hardly watched and the professionals’ personalities were not as much of an issue back then. Alec is a detriment to the program, to his partner, and to the soul and spirit of dancing. This isn’t Dancing With the Perfectionists; it is Dancing With the Stars.
Being a star means you ignite personality, soul, and style to an audience. I think Alec cares very little about those qualities and just wants to act like this show is a strict ballroom competition. I am very angered he was invited back for another season, and now that Natalie is gone in large part, I believe, because of him and the way he portrayed their partnership, I hope DWTS makes the right decision by firing him, and never letting him partner anymore. I’m not just saying that to stir the pot; I truly mean it. I could see the pain and disappointment Natalie had, tears welling up, and I was truly upset over her untimely departure. This girl had finals potential, and all she needed was a better, more compassionate partner. It’s truly a shame.
Ok, I have said my speech about my reaction to Natalie and Alec’s departure, so we have to move to brighter events of the week. Let’s turn to Mark Dacascos who had the comeback dance of the week with his Paso Doble. This was easily my favorite Paso Doble of the night, and even though Mark had to include the corny twirl-jump move, I have to say his dancing and personality is going in the right direction.
I hated.....
