FAB 3
Ryan Allen Carrillo - Kari Gibson - AJ Gibson
Current Ranking: 1         Previous Ranking: None
While Fab 3 didn't finish the race in first place, they are higher ranked here because they were the only team to solve the water puzzle. While the puzzle seemed a bit easy, AJ was the only one to think about the validity of digging in a desert. Kari showed some fear when she was about to descend the mountain, but that's natural. Kari is the highest ranking female so that in itself is an accomplishment.

THE GYPSIES
John Post - Taylor Filasky - Eric Bach
Current Ranking: 2         Previous Ranking: None
The mustachioed Gypsies didn't make any mistakes during this leg, putting their trust in the Fab 3 during the water puzzle and then taking over physically to capture first place. Sadly, there was no prize for being first, but the team seems mentally stable enough that they won't have to bicker their way to victory.

THE FOOTBALL PLAYERS
Akbar Gbaja-Biamila - Robert Ortiz - Ricky Sharpe
Current Ranking: 3         Previous Ranking: None
The footballers benefitted from following. If they were leading, I have a feeling they would have been overtaken at the water collecting challenge. On a physical standpoint, the three footballers are losing to physically weaker teams so they really need to pick up the pace if they want to come in first.

TEAM KANSAS
Lindsey Haymond - Kelsey Fuller - Mackenzie Fuller
Current Ranking: 4         Previous Ranking: None
The first all-female team to finish the first leg was a decent accomplishment, but was only in fourth because of the Blind team's errors. Again, since the producers didn't focus on to them too much, I'm assuming the team has decent communication and didn't find either the camels or the descent to be too challenging.

THE FISHERMEN
Gus Sanfilippo - Nino Sanfilippo - Joe Sanfilippo
Current Ranking: 5         Previous Ranking: None
The fishermen were smart enough to keep with their pack and probably follow them. As long as you aren't last, you only have to be first in the last leg.

NO LIMITS
Erik Weihenmayer - Jeff Evans - Aaron "Ike" Isaacson
Current Ranking: 6         Previous Ranking: None
No Limits made a critical mistake in the fact that they couldn't count snakes. It didn't help that one teammate can't see, but the fact is that the other two really didn't work together to get the correct answer. Kudos to Erik for racing and accomplishing all those things while being blind, but when your teammates have working eyes, they need to use it to help you out.

CALIFORNIA GIRLS
Christina Chin - Brittany Smith -Natalie Smith
Current Ranking: 7         Previous Ranking: None
The ladies in Pink claimed to be from UC Davis, but the only thing we saw them do this episode was read a compass. Since the Latinas used the word "GPS," I'm assuming that the compass reading skills aren't important for the team. They managed to be pretty competitive finishing in the middle of the pack, but all the teams behind them had some issue or another that held them back. One slip up and this team could go quickly.

NY FIREMEN
Kevin Coursey - Rob Keiley - Mike Egan
Current Ranking: 8         Previous Ranking: None
The firemen were fat, had a thick New Yorker accent, and one went by the nickname "Fathead." This combination didn't bode well for the team. This team will be horribly underestimated, but they haven't made any power moves to help them get ahead of the game.
|
THE COUNTRY BOYS
Nicholas Coughlin - Jason Cronin - Chad Robinson
Current Ranking: 9         Previous Ranking: None
I'm a bit shocked that one of the Country Boys dropped to the ground so early in the race. They managed to make a lot of ground going from 13th to seventh, but that was probably with the help of the equalizing water challenge, which for them was fill water from a pre-dug whole.
|
THE COPS
Robert Robillard - Dani Henderson - Jim Vaglica
Current Ranking: 10         Previous Ranking: None
Who are these people? I didn't even know that the Cops had a woman on this team! I can't gauge whether the team is good or not, but I assume that they are better than a nervous mother and a clumsy daughter based off their leg placement.
|
MOM'S ARMY
Ellie Vanderbeck - Ruthie Vanderbeck - Abbie Vanderbeck
Current Ranking: 11         Previous Ranking: None
Mom's lack of physical strength must be the main reason why this team is so far behind. Having two army trained daughter must have helped the mom, but her fear in the mountain descent showed cracks in the daughter's armor. The deciding factor on who will go and who'll stay may start depending on whether this team has enough brains to solve easy puzzles and I hope that Mom can.

GRANDPA'S WARRIORS
Dick Smith - Steven Smith - Samantha Smith-Gibbs
Current Ranking: 12         Previous Ranking: None
I fear for Grandpa's Warriors chances when their youngest contestant was having the most issues. Samantha may not be the youngest (the Youngest member on any team is 18; Samantha is a bit bigger.
