The lessor of many evils.
Tonight Hell’s Kitchen will crown a new “winner”.
The prize is to be “head chef” at the new cushy LA Market restaurant and to be the spokesperson for Rosemount Estate Wines.
I have discussed in the past, and it’s been widely written about in the media, that Ramsay’s prizes are to be taken with a grain of salt -- if you will pardon the culinary reference.
The winner’s connection will be to be to work under the Executive Chef. But maybe the winner won’t care. He/she will be pulling down $250k for one year of whatever. And these people are not at a level where having a joke on their resume will mean much.
The Winery spokesperson job concerns me.
Spokesperson means the winner has to speak. Or it should mean that. Rosemount is in Australia.
Maybe they will have this person just showing up, sort of like a book signing, at local wineshops in LA. Smile and point. I still think it’s a risky deal for the Winery.
So who will win?
Nona who has a decent palate but mediocre cooking skills?
Or Russell who has occasionally decent cooking skills combined with the personality of a stepped on cobra?
Help. Is there a box for “none of the above”?
It’s really, all going to boil down to the brigade that is assembled to help each finalist.
Russell will get the rejects from the boys Blue team. He will get Trevor and Vinny and, according to the previews, the big Russian … was his name Boris?
If they give him a fourth person it will probably be Rob. Talk about a disaster. If the fourth person is Raj, the results will be catastrophic.
Just like on The Apprentice where they bring back the people you beat out to “help” you win, there is a high likelihood of axe grinding.
On The Apprentice, the come-back people were remarkably professional about it. But it’s hard. As I said in that forum, it’s just like having to train the new guy who got the job you applied for. And you don’t get paid for your help.
The boys, especially Trevor, will be grinding axes for sure.
On the girls’ side, they will bring back.....
