Hell's Kitchen: We Have Our Finalists - Here's The Latest Rankings Commentary and Rankings by RTVC Staff Writer Nate Hagelin December 9, 2010
It’s been a long road to this point, and after a series of good, bad, and sometimes flat-out painful challenges and services, Russell and Nona are now our Final Two.
I’m not entirely thrilled about it.
I knew Russell was going to make the Final Two, because let’s face it – he was the best chef in the whole competition. The guy is an asshole, but he’s a good chef, with some decent leadership skills.
The bigger question was who was going to join him.
I thought Jillian would be the one to do so.
I almost always root for the underdog in Hell’s Kitchen, and Jillian truly was the underdog story of the season. She lacked the experience that a lot of the other contestants had, but always pushed it out in services and in challenges, and I saw her as someone that could win the whole competition.
After a while, she started to slip, but a pep talk from Chef Ramsay gave her back her confidence, and she stepped up her game.
Unfortunately, she just couldn’t beat Nona, although I do disagree with Chef Ramsay’s decision a little bit.
I don’t think Nona was bad, but looking at how the season progressed, it looked to me like Jillian had performed better overall.
There’s no question that Nona had the best palate of the bunch, but I honestly think that she was never as strong as Jillian was over the course of the season.
Obviously Chef Ramsay saw something I didn’t.
But since Nona is against Russell in the Final Two, I hope she wins. I don’t think she will, but I can hope at least.
There’s not much to say about Trev. The guy ran out of miracles.
He just did not have what it takes to beat any of the other three. I gotta admit, he had heart, but that wasn’t enough this time.
Next week is the finale, and the next time I’ll be writing rankings, it’ll be to talk about the winner! Here are the final rankings of Hell’s Kitchen 8!
