Hell's Kitchen: The Closest Finale Ever Opens One Door
Recap and Scoreboard by James Kuz
October 14, 2009
I can’t believe it’s already the season finale of Hell’s Kitchen Season 6!

It’s been a pretty interesting season compared to past seasons. There’s been some new record lows (Chef Ramsay walking out of the kitchen for the first time ever) and some pretty high highs (Tennille being able to make it to the final four).

Nevertheless, I’m happy to see who’s finally going to be the head chef of the Araxi Restaurant in Whistler.

Last week after a pretty incredible run, Tennille finally had to hang up her jacket. That leaves us with only three chefs left fighting for a spot in the finals: Ariel, Dave, and Kevin.

I believe all of them could potentially make it to the finals, but we’re going to have to see what happens.

Challenge:
The final three chefs wake up after a sleepless night and come down to meet Chef Ramsay with three covered plates. He then tells them that for their next challenge they will be creating cuisines from different countries in the world.

Ariel picks first and receives China, Dave gets India, and Kevin is left with Mexico. They have 45 minutes to prepare their dish. Once time is up Chef brings out three world renowned chefs from India, Mexico, and China.

Ariel’s up first with her Chinese cuisine and stumbles when trying to explain the dish. Unfortunately the chefs weren’t too impressed, but think that she gave it a good try. Kevin’s up next with his Mexican dish, but forgets his sauce, which doesn’t look good. The chefs think that without the sauce there’s something missing in the dish. Dave then brings up his first attempt at an Indian cuisine. Surprisingly all the chefs really enjoy his dish and think it was amazing for his first attempt at Indian food.

Eventually all three chefs unanimously choose Dave as the winner and wins one on one time with each of the chefs while they prepare their signature dishes for him, his sister, and his fiancée. Meanwhile, Ariel and Kevin have to prep for dinner service and seem to be really motivated for service. Back upstairs Dave also is anxious for service.

Service:
Chef Ramsay gathers the chefs before service and tells them that they will each be running the pass tonight. Service begins and gets off to a good start with the appetizers flying out of the kitchen.

Kevin gets called to the pass first and seems to be leading well. Chef Scott tests his quality tests his quality control by substituting a sea-bass for a halibut, which Kevin is able to spot. Ariel starts to fall behind a little bit on the lamb when Kevin keeps sending them back after she told him that she couldn’t cut them the way he wanted. She keeps telling him that she needs five minutes, but he wants her to get done faster. Eventually everything is served and Dave is called up to the pass.

Right from the beginning all the chefs notice that he’s very aggressive while running the pass. Unfortunately he fails the first two quality control tests, but when a third one is presented to him he thankfully spots it. Overall, it was just okay.

Finally its Ariel turn and she gets.....
