I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here: "The Ramifications Could Be Disastrous"
Recap and Commentary by RTVC Staff Writer Debbie S.

Well, we survived, barely, the first week of NBC's June reality program I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here. Viewers will be able to see more of the competing celebs every Monday through Thursday until the finale on Wednesday, June 24th.
I'll just skip to the Heidi and Spencer Pratt news right off instead of waiting until the end of the episode like the producers did.
Actually, there was no news. Aside from some conversation among the celebrities on the merits of keeping the Pratts or letting them go, the newlyweds were nowhere to be found. Did they spend the night in the Dark Chamber as previously proposed? Or have they left the Costa Rican jungle and are hiding out in a nice plush hotel somewhere until Monday's show airs?
My guess is that they have left the show, choosing not to spend the night in the dark creepy crawly shed, and that NBC, and MTV who is running this week's shows on Sunday, want to wait until Monday to let us know if they will be returning. Heidi and Spencer are still on the NBC website, but otherwise the network has had little to say. Stay tuned.
Last night's episode started off with the usual recaps and our hosts, Damien Fahey and Myleene Klass, announcing that the first elimination vote will be announced at the end of the show. They also let us know that “Heidi and Spencer are begging to come back”.
Our celebs are then seen at camp discussing Heidi and Spencer's return. Some were for giving the couple another chance, and some for letting the quitters quit. Then the hosts break in, saying that the celebs appear to be split on it, and they are as well. Makes me wonder if they already know something.
After a quick break to give out the phone numbers to donate to the celebrities' charities, we join the teams at camp discussing the new cast member Daniel Baldwin. Torrie Wilson says “he is awesome”. Angela Shelton is impressed that he wants to participate in all of the camp chores right off. Daniel says “I 'm not a sitter; give me a job to do”, and is looking for a way to trap some of the rain water for drinking. He is like an overgrown boy scout.
Frances and Angela are then shown having fits about Janice Dickinson, who is shown hocking up spit all over the camp. It appears that Janice is really ill. That may explain why she has been physically out of it this show. Janice says that she is spitting in the bushes, but Torrie complains that she is spitting where people are walking barefoot. Janice says that they are camping, what do you expect? Frangela in their usual witty tone say sorry you are sick, but at home you don't spit from the bed!
The hosts then break in again to remind the viewers to catch this week's episodes on MTV on Sunday.
Back in camp, the teams receive a new scroll with instructions for the food trial. Each team is to choose two members to represent them. They are told that this trial will require brains and brawn, and that they will be on their knees.
Patti and Torrie volunteer for the women. They are the only real female competitors left on the team. John Salley and Daniel Baldwin volunteer for the men's team. When the celebs arrive in the jungle clearing they are fitted with knee pads and helmets and told that they will be competing for a nice spread of veggies.
The trial involves racing through about a foot or two of muddy water, carrying large heavy cubes under a low bamboo pole structure, and then assembling them into a giant grid puzzle. Patti says that the bottom of the mud “feels like molasses”, and Torrie comments that the pieces are heavy and that the men will have the advantage. Stephen was worried that he wouldn't be able to get under the pole structure due to his size, but managed.
The women really.....
