I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here: Is It Hollywood or Holy Ghost?
Recap and Commentary by RTVC Staff Writer Debbie S.
June 9, 2009
The second week at NBC's June reality show, I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, began with a recap of last week's four episodes, then got right into the latest Heidi and Spencer Pratt drama. Over the weekend, news was leaked of Heidi's hospitalization in Costa Rica, but still left a lot of questions unanswered. Was she really tortured and deprived of water? We'll find out later in show.

We find Heidi and Spencer arriving at the Lost Chamber, a dark buggy shed, to spend until morning as part of their requirement for returning to the show. If they don't stay, they will go home. Or if they make it through the night, but the remaining celebrities vote them off, they will go home. Spencer says “this is what we deserve for being cry babies”, and they pray for strength. This is when I want to pray for strength to get through this two hour episode.

Back in camp, the celebrities are discussing the couple. Janice Dickinson says “people can't stand them; that's why I like them so much”. The group goes back and forth but decides to let them back in if they survive the night in the shed. Stephen Baldwin says “trust me, they will come back nice, and then the tide will turn”.

Heidi and Spencer arrive at camp in the morning. It was hard to tell if the group was surprised or not; nothing would probably surprise them at this point. Heidi and Spencer immediately start to talk about their spiritual experiences during their overnight ordeal. Spencer said that his “body was pouring water and I was throwing up” while Heidi was reading from the Bible. Lou Diamond Phillips thought that he saw a new “spark of humanity” in Spencer but Daniel Baldwin called it “convenient Christianity”. The group was torn whether the Pratts experience had been Hollywood, or Holy Ghost.

Heidi then tells Sanjaya Malakar that “I can't wait for you to hear my new album” and sings a rather high pitched song. Sanjaya is polite, but Janice said she “sounds like a drowning cat”. The group thought that she was being mean and Spencer threatens Janice but then says “I don't want to Spenc out”. Lou compliments Spencer on how he handled Janice, and she apologizes. He replies with “the new Spencer is trying to love everyone” and think before he talks.

The hosts Damien Fahey and Myleene Klass then break in and remind us that the celebrities have been in the jungle for eight days. My son then asks me how that is possible since this is supposed to be live. I have to agree that the mix of recaps and “live” is confusing on this show.

Back in camp, we find Torrie Wilson talking to a sad Frances Callier. She is missing her friend Angela, who was eliminated on Thursday's episode. She then says “I'm a celebrity, let me out of here” and announces that she was leaving, and Sanjaya says that she was a “beam of positive light”. She was not up to the trials so would have probably had to quit soon anyway.

Heidi is then.....
