Last Comic Standing 3 News Log
October 9, 2004
NBC has officially cancelled Last Comic Standing with only the show's finale yet to be aired.
I could rant and rave about this for quite a while. But there is little purpose. This decision was made by someone who does not care about the fans of the show who supported NBC by tuning in every week. This is NBC saying "Screw You!"
The NBC website says "Watch the Father Of The Pride Marathon next Tuesday to find out who is the Last Comic Standing." The hell I will! Screw you NBC.
We'll publish the results here for you on Wednesday. We pity the schmuck who has to sit through 90 minutes of FOP to find out who won.
The networks don't seem to get it. Don't ask us to watch a show and then cancel it before the pre-defined conclusion. Reality TV, even as manipulated as Last Comic Standing is about reality. Who won? By how much? What was their reaction? How did the losers react? NBC promoted and promised to deliver for months. They made a decision not to deliver on their promise. Why should we believe them next time?
The news on this show has gone back and forth over the last few days. Cancelled, not cancelled, cancelled. So here is something from the we are a little skeptical but hope it is true department: On the Jay Mohr website it says that "It looks like we WILL be airing a finale of Last Comic Standing 3 on Comedy Central!" When and if it happens will announce it and recap it.

You'll notice above that there are ten comics from season one and only nine from season two shown. The NBC site does not show Bonnie McFarlane as participating in season three. Why? We don't know, but we're working on it. We expect they will bring in someone to fill out the team but we don't know who. We're working on that as well. A couple of good guesses might be Jim Norton who had to pull out of the season two competition due to "other contractual commitments" or grizzled old saloon comic Jim Wiggins who filled in for Norton in the top twenty.

CC McCandless did an outstanding job recapping the second season of Last Comic Standing. You wanted him back for season three and you got him. His first article of the new season handicaps all twenty comics. You can read it here.

From The NBC Site:
"Last Comic Standing" is hosted and executive produced by actor/comedian Jay Mohr ("Jerry Maguire"). The third installment of the Emmy-nominated alternative hit series will be a Battle of the Best, featuring a weekly stand-up contest between the comics from seasons one and two. Viewers will vote for which comic should be eliminated and the results will be announced the following week. With many twists, turns and surprises in store, comics will vie for over $500,000 that will be awarded throughout the season.
Reality TV Calendar will send you the latest casting calls as soon as they are released. Calls are often short notice with short deadlines. You need to make contact immediately. You can't do that unless you have immediate notification of the call. One Time Payment, Only $7.95.
