On butt patrol.
In last week’s challenge, the designers gathered fabric in central park and designed a look to show who they were.

Jesus and Anthony, who were both in the bottom three, realized they needed to step it up this week.

The designers meet Heidi on the runway. She reminds them that the winner of the last challenge Emilio has immunity. For this challenge, they’re going on a field trip to a place that’s “a little out there.”

The designers don’t figure out Heidi’s clue, and they all look shocked when they end up in a dirt field where Tim Gunn waits with their models. The models are all wearing burlap, and this week’s challenged is based on the saying that a woman is so beautiful, she’d look good in a potato sack. The designers have to create a party look from a potato sack. The models are their clients, and they’ll be wearing the designs to an industry party. Seth Aaron says he’s excited, but most of the designers just look scared.

In a reversal of the usual roles, the models get to pick their designers. They stick with their designer from last week, until Alexis, who dumps Mila to choose Anthony. Allison takes Amy, and Valeria picks Janeane. Elizaveta, Ping’s model from last week who looked so uncomfortable with the dance steps Ping wanted her to do, misses an opportunity to trade designers and sticks with Ping. I think she didn’t want to hurt Ping’s feelings.

Out in the field, there are stands of items such as lace, ribbon, and buttons, where the designers can shop. They grab items while trying to do their consults with the models. Amy says she wants to keep her aesthetic. Ping wants to play with texture. Mila says she and her model have very similar taste. Alexis is very vocal about what she wants.

Maya says burlap is not that bad, but the challenge will be making it look expensive. Tim tells the designers not to lose sight of their aesthetic. Emilio is glad to have immunity. Pamela starts dyeing her fabric, while Mila gets snippy about losing Alexis as her model. She sniffs that it’s her loss but then tells Anthony it’s not about him. I don’t know why Alexis would switch designers to someone who was in the bottom three last week, but I think Mila got the better client.

Emilio finds the burlap difficult to work with. Ping says her way of working is different, but she’s confident. Anna is using a cut potato to make a print. Pamela plans to make a corset dress. Tim questions whether it should be two pieces instead of one, but Pamela is sure she can pull it off. Mila is trying to fit tulle into her design, since it’s what her client wants. Tim advises her not to use it. Jay is dyeing his fabric and has lots left to do. Tim asks if he’s worried about time, but he thinks he can get it all done. Ping is carving out of fabric. Tim is concerned that her dress is too short. Amy has done a dip dye and wants the skirt to resemble petals. Jesus has created a fitted skirt completely covered by ribbon. Tim says it’s a problem that the burlap is covered up and thinks Jesus has “skirted” the challenge.

The models come in for their.....
