Project Runway: It’s My Fabric; I’ll Sing If I Want To - Ranking The Remaining 6

This week on Project Runway, the judges seemed as though they were wearing blinders.
Maybe they’re the ones who need “disco straightjackets.”
After I went out on a limb, last week and placed Anthony in second place, because I thought he was growing as a designer and getting better comments from the judges, his “witty responses” counted against him this week, and he went home.
In my opinion, it was the wrong choice.
I didn’t take Anthony seriously, at the beginning of this season. His personality spoke louder than his designs, at first glance. I figured they’d brought him in for entertainment value. But, as he stayed in the competition, I began to see he was a good tailor and had some decent ideas. Although the judges were correct in their comments about his “one-note” results, (how many right sided- diagonal ruffles did we really want to see, anyway?) I think his design this week was pretty and much better than Mila’s disaster.
I didn’t think Anthony could win the season. I thought he might be able to stick around until just before the finals, and then be “auf’ed”. For him to go home this week; compared to Mila – who has been Bottom three for three weeks’ running, and whose garment looked likely to trip her model – was just wrong.
His dress wasn’t that bad. In fact, I thought it flattered his model. I liked the fabric and it was a pretty contrast to the black dress. The “shrug” over her shoulders (or whatever it was) didn’t look that great, especially from the back – but it wasn’t as bad as one of the other garments.
Mila made me laugh when she tried to explain her outfit’s execution by saying she’d made the black jacket “for flexibility” or something like that. Um… Mila… that’s the same stinking black jacket or top you’ve made for every challenge. The bright stripes of color in the skirt might have been a great accent – and you may have thought the judges would applaud you for “adding color” to your endless creations in black and white – but the final result was a disaster. There is no question in my mind; Mila is charmed. She is, admittedly, a superb tailor, but her designs no longer deserve the judges’ praise and recognition. She should have been the one to go home; having lasted this long, I think we may be doomed to see her as a finalist.
As for the other denizen of the bottom tier, I felt for Jonathan this week – and applauded him for speaking up, to Michael Kors. Michael is entitled to his opinion, and the fabric of the dress was a bit drab. The jacket itself was a bit strange-looking, but I think Jonathan’s bravery, in trying a different concept could have been recognized – rather than ridiculed. I was terrified they’d send him home. I don’t think Jonathan is going to win, either – but I enjoy him and we’ll need his amusing personality, now that our main entertainment (Anthony) is gone.
The judges are there because they are spokespersons for the fashion industry – and I have no problem admitting they know that industry far better than I do. But there’s fairness and there’s obliviousness. Mila continues to survive the cut – and then, when creating her garments, every week, feels as though she has the right to be superior to the other designs. It just rankles.
As for the top three.....
