Mark Burnett, creator of Survivor and The Apprentice, is taking Reality TV to the next level. The Recovery is a pilot produced for CBS and planned for a fall premier. This goes way beyond egocentric contestants scheming to win a cash prize. Burnett is focusing his cameras on the real life drama and tragedy of abducted children. According to CBS the show tracks a special team of experts in covert missions as it sets out to find and rescue abducted youngsters. The pilot episode was 18 months in the making and kept secret to protect the rescue missions that were filmed. Burnett was quoted in Daily Variety saying, "The show is like 'Without a Trace,' but it's with a kid who really has been taken." "There's nothing bigger than this. It's more than just television." CBS says the show is being considered for the fall 2004 lineup. When you consider Burnett's Midas touch it seems very likely the show will be picked up.
