The Real Housewives of Orange County: Hypocrisy, Half-Truths And Denial Recap and Commentary by RTVC Staff Writer Jackie Morrison
March 14, 2012
The Real Housewives of Orange County and Tamra’s 80s themed Bunco party gave us a sight to behold. Not only did she consume carbs for the first time in decades but the appearance of long forgotten fashion ensembles was a reminder that the past is best left in the past.
If you have nightmares about an 80s flashback then you're not alone. Every once in a while some popular TV show will do a tribute to the decade of greed.
Unfortunately the problem with the 1980s is that the fashion then was well large. Between the big hair and neon spandex pants or off the shoulder T-shirts, the 1980s was a decade where it was definitely too much of a good thing.
Got thoughts? Post them at the end.
Now if you want to do a 60s vintage retro party then I'm all for it because that decade meant something.
When I look back at that era all I can think about is just how much of a street urchin Madonna looked. Thank God that is over.
However the street urchin white trash look looked perfect for Alexis and she should just wear it more often since it completely expressed exactly what she is.
If I were Madge I would have cringed at the sight of Alexis wearing my signature Like a Virgin lace gear.
Do you remember the 80s heavy metal band Quiet Riot? Turns out that Terry, Heather’s plastic surgeon husband, is the brother of the late lead singer of the band.
So maybe the 80s themed party was appropriate. I don't know about you but I personally would not like to be reminded of the people we lost who were once fixtures of an era.
Meanwhile Slade in his Billy Ray outfit started his confrontation with Vicki over his insults to her in his comedy routine.
Vicki and Slade went at it like they always do and Slade used his knowledge about Vicki's new love’s failure to pay child support against her.
Since Vicki has long accused Slade of being a deadbeat dad it was time for payback. Karma is always a bitch and when Vicki begins screaming it just takes the 80s to another level.
By that I mean, in the 1980s we were still thawing out from the Cold War but between Vicki and Slade the war was never cold but blood boiling hot.
Gretchen got in the mix defending Slade and in the end Vicki left the party feeling betrayed by Tamra for inviting her nemesis.
Tamra is going to have a lot of explaining to do to Vicki who just can't understand why her friend would invite a man that she so clearly detests.
