The Real Housewives of Orange County: Whine and Cheese Recap and Commentary by RTVC Staff Writer Jackie Morrison
May 28, 2012
Vicki Gunvaldson was still reeling from the sudden elopement of her daughter Briana.
Briana and her new husband dropped the shock of Vicki’s life the previous episode when she announced at dinner that she got hitched in Las Vegas.
Briana probably knew better than to involve her mother in a lengthy engagement and wedding planner exercise as Vicki would have taken over the entire event.
Never a good thing to have a controlling mother who dominates every aspect of the nuptials with her own ideas instead of yours. Briana was clearly thinking ahead by running off to get married.
After the shock of her week Vicki unloads her horror to Tamra while lingerie shopping.
Tamra has downsized and it’s time to buy some new bras for her smaller bust. During the bra try-ons Vicki reveals to Tamra that Briana is now married.
Vicki is most upset that she missed the special moments of finding a wedding dress, wedding planning, bridal showers, engagement parties, and sending out invites.
Tamra is understanding as much as she can be while lamenting that she is no longer a D-cup.
Speaking of marriage, Slade has decided to get all traditional and ask Gretchen’s father for permission to marry his daughter.
Scott, Gretchen’s dad, is none too pleased. Scott is a protective daddy alright. He confronts Slade about his weight, child support payments, and lack of employment.
Scott already saw his daughter go through one broken marriage so he is right to be concerned about Slade.
If I were Scott I wouldn’t give Slade permission to marry my kid either. The best predictor of future behavior is past actions.
Once Vicki calms down she and Tamra discuss a wine and cheese party and decide to invite Alexis.
The ladies know how to move one and with Vicki’s business sense it’s apparent that her and Tamra are going to pull through no matter what life throws at them.
Vicki thinks the party is a good time to announce Briana’s new married life. The party is also an opportunity for Vicki to get her two adult children to meet Brooks and get to know him.
Turns out this is the first meeting for the kids and Vicki’s new beau.
During the party Brooks tries his best with silly comments aimed at Briana and Michael. Tamra’s son Ryan is not immune to Brooks’ crazy talk. Tamra calls out Brooks as being a tad creepy.
Tamra has not been too trustful of Brooks from the start with the way he moved in fast onto Vicki. Brooks says all the rights things but he could still be all wrong.
Brianna and Tamra both hinted that the guy was an opportunist with good reason.
Vicki is a control freak which is not the best mentality to take when she later hears that Briana is four months pregnant yet has not been married for as long. Do the math.
Briana becoming a mother means that she now will have to mother two children: her own mother and new baby.
The chances for a peaceful family gathering don’t look good with the tension brewing between Vicki and Briana and their significant others.
