Stimpy’s Thoughts
Was there any doubt he’d be back? ?

Is there any doubt he won’t win, yet again?

Yeah, didn’t think so.

Let’s face it folks, we all love Rupert, but he’s just not cut out for the scheming and plotting and backstabbing aspect of this game.

His video does give light to the fact that he’s at least aware that it’s not the person who best survives the elements, nor the person who provides the most (what he called the ‘best Survivor) who wins, but sometimes it’s the best schemer that does.

Well duh.

The most telling thing about Rupert’s video is the fact that he says he wants to prove to himself that he can still do it.

Wrong motivation, sir.

I think Rupert does get it better these days that this is a game, but I still don’t think it’s within him to do what may be necessary with this crowd in order to win.

In short, that would be forming a good alliance on the heroes tribe from the outset and then turning on them post-merge so he can get his ass to the end.

He does at least seem to be aware that that’s what he might have to do, because he also noted in his interview that he thinks of what he’d say at the Final Tribal Council to make his scheming and plotting seem okay in order to get the win.

Even if he can make the moves necessary to get to the end, I think it’s still an uphill climb for him though.

Because, Rupert’s biggest problem is: Rupert.

Unless he opts for the same track Stephenie took in Guatemala - read: get to the end no matter what and piss off as many people as you can while doing it - no one in their right mind will want to be sitting next to him at the end.

Hell, in All-Stars, Jenna decided her best shot was to dump Rupert at the final four, rather than giving him the chance to get in front of the jury.

I still maintain it was a smart move on her part, by the way.

And there’s where the problem lies.

His only shot of getting to the end, is to be such a humongous prick that someone else will willingly go up against him because they think he’s fodder in front of the jury.

And, then he probably wouldn’t win anyway, because he had been such a prick.

So, to recap: If Rupert is Rupert, his only chance to get to the finals is to bulldoze his way there with immunity wins. One immunity loss, and his ass is gone.

If Rupert can somehow NOT be Rupert and is such an ass that he gets before the jury, he probably still wouldn’t win, because he’d have to be such an ass to get there, and even a Chris Daughtry-like performance in front of the jury might not be able to save him.

IF, and that’s a big if, Rupert can somehow straddle between those two extremes, maybe he’s gotta shot.

But, nah. He doesn’t.

I wish it weren’t so, because he is a lovable guy, but methinks he lacks the proper game-acumen to bring it all together.
