Survivor Heroes Vs. Villains: Flips Flops And “A Hobbit On Crack”
Commentary by RTVC Staff Writer Kathleen

Frodo would be
so ashamed.
It was a night of flip-flops on Survivor: Heroes Vs Villains.

First we were treated to our very own delusional Dragon Slayer having a very personal melt-down.

According to him he is every mythological hero that ever was but he’s really a gentle soul with hurt feelings but he actually is the dragon slayer. Or maybe he’s Mighty Mouse.

A more subtle flip-flop was Tyson. Tyson offered not only a shoulder for Coach to cry on but he offered some solid sage advice on playing the game. Take a note if you are ever going to play Survivor: Do not wear feathers to Tribal Council; do not tell outlandish stories; and, do not practice Tai-Chi in public.

This would have all been a serious Hallmark moment if every second word of the conversation had not been “Man” and if every third word had not been “Dude”. Man. Dude. Dude. Man. Gag.

And then Coach, yes, our stalwart true blue hero Coach, flip-flopped on himself over Tyson’s advice. Hell no. He’s not going to change. He is the Dragon Slayer.

Dizzy yet?

Next it was Russell sneaking off to look for the Hidden Immunity Idol.

That man thinks he is God. He thinks he is golden. He is about a subtle as an earthmover in a strip mine.

Everyone knows what he’s doing and they all think he’s a joke. Hmmm. That is where Russell may actually be golden. The others are not taking him seriously. Anyone who is referred to as “A Hobbit on Crack” is not being taken as a threat. Watch out Villains. Remember, it was a Hobbit who saved the day in the trilogy.

That wasn’t exactly a flip-flop but it was funny.

Then came the machinations among the Heroes as to who will go home, how many votes will it take and who will cast them.

Amanda is the queen of flip-flop. Just tell her a tale and she’ll change her mind. Heck, I’m changing my mind about Amanda. I used to think she was a pretty crafty player who just didn’t know how to make a speech.

Uh … I stand corrected. Cirie opined that Amanda is not the sharpest tool in the shed. I second that, Cirie.

And if Amanda is the queen, then JT is the king. He has flip-flopped his vote in two out of three Tribal Councils. He talked his way out of it last time. It will be interesting to see if Candace buys into it this time.

Why just Candace, you say? Well, let’s take role. James “just wants to win, y’all”. I don’t think he gives a darn about votes. Amanda is a deer in the headlights. Vote? Did we vote? And Rupert just wants us all to have a bonding experience.

You’ve spent too many years in the kids’ camp, Rupert. This is not about singing Kumbaya and toasting marshmallows and having a group hug. Jeff recapped it nicely by saying that Rupert’s philosophy was really strange in a game of Outwit, Outplay, Outlast. And for me, if I hear the word “bond” in any context coming from Rupert, I will scream.

In the end Tom’s strategy.....
