Sandra won Survivor:
Heroes vs. Villains and I’m ok with it.
I know I said I
would not be, but upon sober reflection she played her game well.
She did not fall into the win. She worked for it using the tools she
has available.
Parvati did not win
and I am sad.
During the course of the evening several people,
including Parvati herself put their finger on the “why”.
Russell.
She was perceived as being too close to Russell.
Parvati
had a dangerously thin line to travel in this game. She came into
the game with a big target on her back and she used a perceived
alliance with Russell to protect herself.
Sadly for her, perception
is the only reality some people have and guilt by association got
her.
Russell. My TV and
I got a workout, I was yelling something fierce and I was not yelling at boneheaded moves.
I was yelling at the deluded things coming out of Russell’s mouth, and presumably out of his
brain.
First, let me ask
you. What was Russell trying to say with his “I only played
one game, Jeff”?
As has been
discussed, Russell is not the first player to do back to back
seasons, so surely that isn’t it. And, yes, Russell did indeed
play the same exact strategy both times but why brag? By the second
finale garnering zero votes – YES, YES, YES – he must
realize how well that worked out for him.
If you smack your
left thumb with a hammer and then turn around and smack your right
thumb with a hammer, does it make sense to brag about having two
bloody thumbs? Only on the Saturday morning cartoons.
Here’s page
number one from Russell’s Survivor Primer. Go into the game
and play as hard as you can to get to the end. Period.
The votes
will happen because everyone will admire how hard you played. Don’t
worry about the social game. Don’t worry about the jury.
As poor bemused Jeff
pointed out to Russell more than once, when he could get a word in
edgewise, “Russell, that would be a different game”.
Rugby, perhaps?
Apologies to rugby players and fans. I don’t know the game.
It just seems to be one where determination and brute force are more
important than finesse and delicate pre-planning. But, No. I
correct myself. Rugby is very much a team activity. You cannot win
without a bunch of other guys headed for the same goal.
I guess I’m
stuck for a sports analogy.
It’s more like a war.....
