Survivor:
Heroes Vs Villains, the 20th season, took place deep in the South
Pacific.
This
season’s spin was that twenty previous players were brought
back, some for a third time.
They
were split into two tribes – one tribe was made up of the nice
guys, or Heroes. The other tribe consisted of the meanies, or the
Villains.
The
Villains took the early lead, under mainly the direction of Boston
Rob. They won challenge after challenge, and became more and more
confident with each win. The Heroes tribe diminished to only five,
and things didn’t look good for the nice guys.
As
expected, Boston Rob and Russell struggled for control of the
Villains. Russell gathered Danielle and Parvati under his wing.
After he managed to bring Jerri over to his side, they systematically
eliminated Boston Rob and his alliance. The final member of Rob’s
alliance was (and is) Sandra, who blamed Russell for her friends’
demise.
Assuming
that the merge was imminent, JT made a power play from over on the
Heroes’ side. His second assumption was that the Villains were
being ruled by the girls. During one of the challenges, he passed
Russell a note, instructing Russell to vote Parvati out. In what
will go down as one of the bonehead moves of Survivor history, JT
also passed Russell his hidden immunity idol. He figured that the
girls’ alliance was targeting Russell, and that he could use
the idol to save himself. Then, Russell would be forever in JT’s
debt, which would come in handy for the Heroes after the merge.
After
the merge, Russell gave Parvati the gifted hidden immunity idol.
What Russell didn’t know was that Parvati had a hidden immunity
idol of her own. At tribal council, she made one of the biggest
moves of Survivor history. She gave her two idols to Sandra and
Jerri, so that her alliance would stay intact. With the two girls
safe, JT was voted out.
It
was then that Sandra started plotting Russell’s departure. She
campaigned nonstop, but the Heroes didn’t listen. Instead, the
Heroes were sent packing one by one.
The
Heroes were down to two – Colby and Rupert. When things looked
bleakest for them, Russell decided that Danielle and Parvati were too
close for his comfort. He joined up with Colby and Rupert, and
Danielle was sent to the jury.
Just
when I thought we might be able to say goodbye to Sandra, she went
and found a hidden immunity idol. She held onto it for a while. She
even toyed with not playing it at the last tribal council, which was
the final time the idol was allowed to be used. (In the end, she did
play the idol.) Rupert was sent to the jury, and now we’re
down to five Survivors.
Tonight,
a winner will be crowned. Colby is the final Hero left, and if he
can make it to the end, he has the most friends on the jury. As for
the Villains, we have Parvati, Russell, Sandra and Jerri. I just
can’t imagine that Jerri or Sandra will take home the prize.
Like last time, it might come down to just how much the jury hates
Russell.
Tonight’s
lengthy finale begins after.....
