Survivor Nicaragua: The Yougin's Versus The Old Farts - Stimpy Looks At All Of Them
Commentary and Snarkfest by RTVC Staff Writer Stimpy
March 12, 2010
Well folks, Survivor Nicaragua is almost upon us, so I, your humble scribe am here to offer my impressions of the cast.

First off, I guess I should ask: did you miss me?

Well of course you did. What kinda stupid question is that anyways?

And, since the cast was announced awhile back and there’s been nary a word from me, I betcha you were worried that I’d found something better to do with my time.

No such luck, folks.

So, moving onto more important matters. The ‘twist’ of this season, sorting the tribes by age and pitting the young’uns against the older farts.

In truth, I’m actually all for it.

Admittedly, it has seemed in the past few seasons that the producers would cast one truly older person, and it would just so happen that said older person was voted out in fairly quick order because they were aggravating as all get out.

Of course that’s probably the reason they were cast; they came off as ‘colorful’ during casting.

And, heaven forbid if anyone older wasn’t quite colorful, because then the younger folks would still tend to gang up on them and vote them out anyways.

But, it pointed to a bigger problem. While the older ‘colorful’ (read: aggravating) person was cast aside, many times it left us with a few weeks of going through cookie-cutter versions of human beings in their twenties.

All about as interesting as dry toast, and as indistinguishable as any moron who lists Paul McCartney as their favorite Beatle.

So cast ten young folk and ten older folk and let’s see how things play out.

Of course, since I’m interested in seeing just how it does play out, that means these crafty producers will probably have a switch about three episodes in and it’ll all get blown to hell.

But we shall see.

I’m not gonna bother getting into the other new twist; namely this ‘advantage’ that one tribe will have prior to any challenge, that gives them the option of forcing a member of the other tribe to sit out. The proviso being, once they use it, that ‘advantage’ goes to the other tribe for the next challenge.

It will be interesting to see if people approach the use of it strategically or in a knee-jerk fashion.

But beyond that, I’m not gonna delve into it because this is one you have to see play out before you know whether or not it’s gonna be a train-wreck.

And, before we go too much further, lemme just lay out the ground rules which I follow here.

All I’ve done is.....
