Commentary and Analysis by Water Cooler Wally

From tonight's challenge.
Survivor Nicaragua marks the 21st season of the show on CBS, and I have watched every season.
I like Survivor because it is so different every season. Each season you get a different cast and most of the time you get a different location as well.
The last two seasons were in Samoa and were dominated for better or worse by Russell Hantz. Love him or hate him no one can deny that he added a lot to the past two seasons.
This season we cross the Pacific and go from a small island to the coast of Nicaragua.
What follows is my first look and first impressions of what this season holds from the cast to the location and everything else.
I should state right off the bat that these opinions are based only on the information available on the official CBS Survivor website and the official Survivor Nicaragua preview that recently aired on the TV Guide Channel.
I try to avoid the speculation and spoilers on the various boards and websites and stick to “official sources”. So with that out of the way let’s get it on!
Location
The location this year is the country of Nicaragua which is in Central America. If you are not sure where that is get a map because you are obviously a moron, and should probably watch a show like “pimp my doublewide” instead of a show like Survivor.
Anyway the location should be pretty decent. For once however I would really love it if they could get away from the whole tropical beach or tropical jungle theme. I think that Survivor Alaska or Survivor Yukon would be awesome, however if you did that you would probably not have hot chicks walking around in bikinis.
So perhaps that is not a good idea after all. Then again having a contestant getting eaten by a grizzly bear after getting voted out in tribal would be awesome!
Anyway Nicaragua should be pretty cool. It looks like the art and props dept is going with a Conquistador theme. The tribal counsel area looks particularly cool this year with its Spanish Mission in ruins theme.
From the preview it looked pretty cool, lets hope it does not end up looking like something you would see at your local Taco Hole Restaurant.
One interesting thing about this season is what they will do with the rewards challenges.
When they go to an exotic remote island there is often a really cool native culture that lives in huts or something and they have a cool feast with the winning tribe after which the they get to sleep in the huts with the natives who speak some strange language.
In Nicaragua however.....
