Survivor Gabon: Sugar Snuffs A Snake, Kota Cans Dan
Recap by Jenny Lane
As of October 31, 2008
Previously on Survivor, Fang voted GC out because of his negative attitude. Fang was in a funk, and they were all hungry and tired of losing. Ace felt that he was in control of the tribe, since he had control of Sugar and her immunity idol. He even got her to offer to give him the idol without realizing she did it. Ace and Matty make an alliance, and agree to also keep Ken and Sugar safe. Kota continued to celebrate their wins, eating more than they would need to. Dan ruffled some feathers as he ate more than his share of meals.

At the reward challenge, Fang was no match for Kota when it came to carrying 200 pounds around a running track. Kota won a reward of breakfast pastries and beverages. The loss was more than Crystal could handle, and she broke down in tears in front of both tribes. Crystal’s tears were perceived as a sign of weakness from Kelly, who jumped on the chance to get people on the anti-Crystal bandwagon.

The immunity challenge involved pairs of tribemates running together through obstacles. Fang gave Kota a run for their money, but in the end, Kota continued its winning streak, sending Fang to tribal council once again. Back at the Fang camp, most of the tribe wanted to send either Kelly or Ace home. Ken made an alliance with Sugar, and convinced her to get the idol back from Ace.

At tribal council, there was a lot of talk about Crystal’s tears and supposed weakness. Kelly went off on both Ace and Crystal, which didn’t help her case any. Except for Kelly’s vote, the tribe was unanimous, sending Kelly packing.

Tonight begins at Fang’s camp on day 19. Their rice supply continues to dwindle, and so is their morale. Right after Matty and Ken counted out how much rice they had left, Crystal dumps over the rice box and a bunch spills out. The guys are sitting right there, so they see it happen. Crystal tries to act like it’s no big deal, and says just a little spilled, but Matty saw that it was really several handfuls that landed on the ground. Crystal feels guilty, so she sulks in bed and refuses to eat her breakfast. The guys try to convince her to eat, but she keeps saying that she doesn’t want to take away from any of the others.

At Kota on day 20, they’re sitting around the fire and joking. Charlie, Marcus and Corinne don’t make their alliance a secret, and Dan goes and tells them that he feels left out when the three of them joke around. He says he’s very sensitive and feels bad, which makes Corinne say that Dan lacks social kids.

The reward challenge is set up in a big field. There is a circle of a bunch of posts with red and yellow flags attached to them. In the center of the circle are two large squares, and in the center of each square is a small square, one is red and one is yellow. The outer square has posts at each corner, and there are three posts surrounding the center square. There are ropes going around the outer edge. In addition, there is one rope that runs from one corner to one of the center posts. At the opposite corner, there is a rope that runs from that corner, to the second center post, and then continues on to the final center post. These ropes divide the square up a little, making it hard to move around the entire square freely.

Kota doesn’t seem surprised to see that Kelly was voted out at tribal council. Jeff tells the tribe that they’re going to be playing a game of keep away. Three tribemates will toss a breakable ball, about the size of a soccer ball, back and forth. At the same time, one member of the opposite tribe will try to smash the ball and force it to the ground. Two games will be going simultaneously, one in each of the squares. The tribe that is able to break the other tribe’s ball first wins a point. The first tribe to three points wins.

The reward is a trip via helicopter. They will go and have a picnic, and Jeff has the picnic basket full of food right there to torment them. It includes bread, meats, cheeses and fruit. A member of the losing tribe will also go to exile island.

Corinne and Charlie decide to sit out for Kota, and everyone else gets ready for the challenge.

In the first round, Randy is the attacker for Kota, and he will be going against Ken, Crystal and Matty. Ace is the attacker for Fang, and he will be going against Bob, Marcus and Dan.

The tossing around starts off slowly, and then picks up speed. Ace runs around, but not as quickly or as aggressively as Randy. Randy tackles Ken, who is in the process of throwing the ball. He throws Ken off balance, and the ball goes to the ground and breaks. Kota gets the first point.

In the second round, Bob.....
