On August 11th CBS announced the cast of Survivor Quatemala with a press release. While it is official that Bobby Jon and Stephanie of Survivor Palau will be returning it is not known in what capacity. They may be contestants or they may play the part of assistant hosts or they may be tribe mentors. Mostly their roles are shrouded in mystery as to how they will help or hinder the survivors manage their adventure.
As soon as we know we'll let you know.
Here is the CBS press release:
Former NFL Quarterback Gary Hogeboom Among the New Castaways Set to Compete When the Eleventh Installment of the Hit Television Series Premieres on Thursday, September 15
CBS today announced 16 new castaways to compete in SURVIVOR: GUATEMALA -- The Maya Empire. The castaways will begin their adventure with a grueling 11 mile hike through the jungle when the eleventh installment of the Emmy Award-winning hit series premieres Thursday, Sept. 15 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT), on the CBS Television Network.
SURVIVOR: GUATEMALA -- The Maya Empire takes place amid the ancient Mayan ruins and ceremonial sites (some as many as 2,000 years old) located in the northern area of Guatemala. Amid the excruciating triple-digit heat, crocodile infested waters, relentless mosquitoes and terrifying sounds of the howler monkeys, these new castaways will attempt to "Outwit, Outplay and Outlast" in hopes of winning the $1 million prize and title of "Ultimate Survivor." In addition to the grueling overnight hike, the castaways will be faced with two additional surprises in the first episode that will dramatically impact how they play the game.

Deprived of basic comforts, exposed to the harsh natural elements, your fate at the mercy of strangers…who would you become? For 39 days, 20 strangers will be stranded together and forced to carve out a new existence, using their collective wits to make surviving in their rugged environment a little easier. Day by day, the harsh elements and threatening indigenous animals will test the endurance of the Survivors. Each three days of island life will result in a one-hour SURVIVOR episode.
The Survivors must form their own cooperative society, building shelter, gathering and catching food, and participating in contests for rewards. Those who succeed in the day-to-day Challenges will be rewarded with things to make life on the Island more bearable. Those who fail must do without.
On the last day of each three-day cycle, the Survivors must attend Tribal Council. At this meeting, each person votes secretly to send one fellow Survivor home. The person with the most votes must leave their tribe immediately. Week by week, one by one, people are voted off, until at the end of the final episode, only two Survivors remain. At that point, the seven most recently eliminated Survivors will return to form the final Tribal Council and decide who will be Sole Survivor and win one million dollars.
