They Left Chad Hanging

Why Are the Women So Powerful?
Well, for one thing there is absolutely no sexual chemistry between the genders. I have never seen that more in evidence than in this series. That means that there are no distractions between the males and females of the species. There might possibly be greater chemistry among the women themselves. I don't want to fulfill any male fantasies here, but truthfully, it has always been easier for women to be physical with one another and this tribe has demonstrated that more than any other.
Right from the beginning they had a strong alliance despite the rift between younger and older females. Even when Twila and Julie went over to the Lopevi tribe prior to the merge, Julie, despite baring her ass and being the temptress, was also playing the game shrewdly.
Twila, who appeared to be buddies with the boys also kept the women in the back of her mind on her loyalty scale.
What Does Scout Really Do?
Nothing but flap her gums. However, she is the tribe elder and is looked upon as such. Her name has never once been brought up for voting out. Why is that? I have no answers. Her powers don't seem overwhelming. In actuality, although she has an axe to grind with Eliza, she could not get her voted out this last time. Scout has never won a challenge. In fact, the only thing that she did well was direct her tribe from the "lifeguard chair" to getting the right pattern in the floor puzzle. Also, while the Yasurs were blindfolded she successfully led them to victory in constructing another wooden puzzle and that was probably due to Rory's undermining of his own tribe by yelling over Sarge's directions.
Who Is the Real Lord of the Flies?
We are over half way through this series and I can't live in denial for much longer. It has got to be Ami. What the hell is the deal with her? Is it her extreme confidence? Is it her enhanced boobage? Is it her intelligence? I'm not so sure about what attributes she brings to the table unless the rest of the women just need to follow a natural leader and that's what she must be. Perhaps it's because she's a "coffee barista." That has got to carry some weight. I have no clue as to what the hell that means unless she has connections in Colombia, but I'll go along with anything at this point.
What About Eliza?
With eyes as big as saucers (or bigger), Eliza has borne the brunt of being an outcast. Yet she has remained strong and even though she doesn't like picking up muddy pigs, she has not lost her self-confidence. I believe that her saving grace is lack of self-awareness as far as her weaknesses are concerned although she knows that Scout is gunning for her. She is outspoken and does what she can without relying on the others and yet votes along with them. Smart strategy. She'll make a good lawyer if she gets into Law School and passes the bar exam, that is.
Twila Is As Twila Does
There is no question that Twila is a good ole girl, if there is such a thing. She's a regular Forrest Gump. She has her own mind, wears the unsexiest bathing suit ever produced and she doesn't give a crap about anyone because she's got her eyes on the prize. Despite the fact that she appears to be indecisive, I think her mind is a steel trap and she doesn't have to apprise anyone else of her intentions. So far that formula has served her well. Despite her friendship with Sarge (and let's face it, he's a married man), Twila has marched to her own drum and has tapped into her inner formula for success.
Julie, Julie, Julie
She's' smart, she's attractive and she has not made any enemies, yet. But she is going to have to watch herself in the future because after Ami goes, she's the next target. She's a strong player and as we all know, when it comes down to the end game, the most threatening players are the next to go. Despite pledging her alliance to everyone within hearing distance, Julie does her own thing and it looks good for her.
Leann, the Enigma
She's a strange one. With her inscrutable smile and the ability to fly under the radar, Leeann plays her cards close to her surgically enhanced chest. This is not an easy thing for a woman to do. Women are naturally open with one another and will tell another woman her entire life story while applying lip gloss in the Ladies' Room of a nightclub or restaurant. I'm speaking from experience. Leann defies that rule. She has not been really close to anyone except lately when she picked Julie as her companion of choice for the reward challenge. However, that does not mean anything on Survivor. Julie is out for herself and Leeann might just be smart enough to know that. I think that she might just be the best player in this game.
Tribal Council - And Then There Was One
Despite the whispering and strategizing, it looked as if yet another man was going to be picked off like a tick. There was Chris-who I didn't think would last long after falling off repeatedly during the very first challenge-and Chad, the guy that managed to conquer physical adversity and perform as well or better than the other men. I still remember listening to hearing impaired Christy who kept whining about her disability and feeling like an outsider. Chad never ever played that role. He was up for anything and did extremely well at everything but those balance beams. As he admitted during the Early Show interview this morning, that was the one challenge that he wasn't prepared for.
Chad, to me, is a man of character and that opinion has nothing to do with the fact that he is handicapped because he proved that he isn't disabled in any way. I was sorry to see him go because he had done so well throughout the series. His fondest memory will be the reward challenge of being plunked down on one of the many Vanuatu islands and watching the natives perform in possibly the most remote and least visited place on the planet. Getting wasted on the kava which he described as so powerful that he lost muscular control for a while, was also quite an experience. He admitted that he and Chris had quite a bit more of it than the women.
Speculation and Projection
I don't really know if Chris can make it past the next round, but anything is possible. He thought that by pledging his allegiance to Scout he was doing a good thing, but when the rest of the women voted Chad out, he must have known that his days are numbered.
I now believe that Ami has some sort of hold over the women, Scout is losing her position as New Age Tribe Elder and everyone else is jockeying for position, it might play out in an interesting manner. Final Two? Julie and Leeann. That's a wild guess, you make your own.
