Keith Tollefson
Stimpy's Take:
Hmm. Weird vibes here.
First off, it’s not included in his bio here, but I’ve learned elsewhere that young Keith has a pacemaker. And he’s got a scar from the operation that’s pretty evident.
I don’t think that will factor into things too much, especially if Keith proves himself around camp and in challenges.
Hell, the only think I think might happen is She of Epic Bitch Proportions™ (aka NaOnka) runs into one episode to kick him in the nuts, just because he has a pacemaker, and then runs out.
Ahem.
Okay, Keith comes across as confident, but not arrogant. That’s a plus.
However, there’s a couple red-flags here that are causing me concern.
One, he doesn’t like people talking behind his back. Um, dude, have you even seen this show?
It’s gonna happen. Fucking deal with it.
Two, he likens himself to Boston Rob because he played one of the best ‘psychological’ games.
(The Champ Mode ON )
I says, pardon?
(The Champ Mode OFF)
I never saw Rob doing anything even remotely ‘psychological’. Yeah, he may have likened himself to The Godfather for the ‘hold’ he had on his tribe in Marquesas, but it wasn’t really psychological.
Was he manipulative? Hells yeah. Did he lie and deceive? Um, yuppers.
But to call his game psychological, well quite frankly, kinda scares the bejeezus outta me.
Rob’s definitely one of the better strategic players in the game’s history (or, as Rob himself calls it: strategical), and if that’s what you want to reference, then fine.
But just tossing out that word, when it doesn’t really apply, leads me to one of two conclusions:
-One; You have no clue what the hell you’re talking about
-Two; You’re a moron
So, yeah, that kinda worries me about Keith.
That being said, I don’t foresee any major problems for him right outta the gate. He seems fit, and should be valued by his tribe for his challenge use.
So, no initial danger.
After that, well it’s anybody’s guess, but I wouldn’t be planning any ‘Congrats on your Survivor win Keith’ parties.
Like I said, the kid exudes confidence, and while he seems to have an inkling of getting people to do what he wants as being a big bonus, there’s just not enough here for me to start thinking he’s got a really good chance.
Y’know, now that I think of it, you wanna know who Keith reminds me of? Aras from Exile Island .
Not quite a carbon-copy of the usual ‘dumb muscle’ kinda guys we usually get, and nothing that screams out ‘he’s the one’, but maybe there’s just enough of everything to help him get to the end and win, even though it won’t be the most satisfying to the viewing public.
I’m really hedging here, but it’s kinda hard to figure out where to place Keith and his chances.
Like I said, he doesn’t come across as a complete moron (despite the ‘psychological’ crap), but also doesn’t come across as the smartest set of abs on the island.
He’s confident, but not cocky or arrogant.
Like I said, I dunno that Keith has any one particular quality that makes him a good bet to go all the way, but he might have enough of a few qualities that may end up helping him big time.
We shall see.
Got thoughts? Post them at the end.
