Survivor Cagayan - Brawn vs. Brains vs. Beauty: Meet Yung Stimpy Takes A Look at Yung of the "Brawn" Tribe
February 1, 2014
Yung of the "Brawn" Tribe
Well, look at that, we've got a contestant with his own nickname.
Woo. As in, woo boy, I don't like his chances?
Probably not what he had in mind, but seriously what the fuck else am I supposed to think when some idiot likens themselves to That Fucking Moron™ Ozzy?
But really, I shouldn't take issue with Yung classifying himself like that, because he does come across much the same way as Ozzy did.
That's not a compliment.
I saw one fleeting reference to the 'social game' in his profile.
Other than that, it was all about the challenges. He'll do great in the obstacle courses, he'll crush it in balancing challenges, he can climb coconut trees.
Blah, blah, fucking blah.
Got thoughts? Post them at the end.
How is that twenty-fucking-eight seasons into this show, that there are idiots out there who still think this game is purely a physical one?
There's nary a whit of strategic thought in this goober's profile. Just physical this, and physical that.
Like I said, there was a throw-away reference to 'social game' and a brief note of 'people tend to like me'.
Yeah, well, if yer holding a pair of nunchucks, or a katana blade, I would hazard that it's not your personality that's making them like you. It's the fact that they don't wanna get brained or stabbed that's making them 'like' you.
I'm sure that Yung is a likeable enough kid, but in the end, I think he's in over his head in this game.
Will he kill it in the challenges? Oh, most likely. But that and a buck-fifty will get you a coffee at Tim Hortons, and not much else.
On Survivor, it'll get you considerably less. When all the scheming and machinations are going on, Yung will be climbing coconut trees, and communing with nature, or watching waves, or psyching himself up for the next challenge.
Then, when the opportunity allows for it, he'll get shunted off to get his torch snuffed.
It's not that I don't think Yung has the social chops to succeed in this game, it's just his total lack of knowledge, or ignorance to the fact that there is a mental side to this game.
It involves strategy, scheming, plotting and knowing that people liking you is a double-edged sword.
Having people like you is a good thing, because that can translate to jury votes at the end.
Having people like you is also a bad thing, because no one will want you to be seated in front of the jury because of the potential votes you'd be getting from them.
Yung doesn't seem to grasp that aspect of it, and the total lack of awareness his profile displays, makes me loathe to think he's nothing more than dumb muscle.
Stimpy is a huge fan of Survivor and enjoys dissecting each episode. When not watching Survivor or sports on TV, he fills his time by skydiving, rockclimbing, golfing, and rollerblading, as well as sitting on the beach drinking beer in British Columbia, Canada.
