Survivor Millennials vs. Gen X: Mari Stimpy's Take
Septeber 6, 2016
Mari - MILLENIALS
Okay, I have to admit it. When I clicked on Mari’s profile and saw ‘Gamer’ listed as her occupation I wanted someone to shoot me in the head.
Then I read the rest of her profile.
Stimpy is impressed!
It took awhile to get going though. How the hell climbing Kilimanjaro could inspire someone to leave the world of ballet and take up gaming for a living is beyond me.
But things quickly got better.
Wanting to play like Yul? That’s something good to aspire to. Knowing that Yul was two steps ahead of everyone shows an attention to detail that often gets overlooked. Admiring the fact that he got to the end without having to play his talisman also points to understanding just how he was able to do that.
Add to that, Mari wants to emulate Kelley’s game play during Second Chances. Again, that’s something good to aspire to.
She’s a driven young lady too, which is a plus, and she wants the win, which is good as well.
And I loved how she ties her past into how she’s going to compete in the game. Any challenges where balance is required? Check. She did ballet.
Social gameplay? Check. She plays the ‘social game’ online already and admits that there’s tactics and strategy behind it. I even like how she says her social play will be calculated.
Right there she’s showing an attention to the details that most people miss and it makes me think Mari has a pretty good shot of pulling off the win.
The real key here is will she be able to play a calculated social game in real life and not just online? If she can then everyone else better watch out.
Stimpy is a huge fan of Survivor and enjoys dissecting each episode. When not watching Survivor or sports on TV, he fills his time by skydiving, rockclimbing, golfing, and rollerblading, as well as sitting on the beach drinking beer in British Columbia, Canada.
