Survivor Millennials vs. Gen X: Meet Rachel
Stimpy's Take
Septeber 6, 2016

Okay, after the debacle that was Paul, this is more like it! A woman who's driven to win this thing and shows a bit of an inkling of how to do it.

Granted it a very limited inkling, but it's there. She knows she's going to have to strategize, and with a background in chess that started when she was six(!) I kind of get the vibe that she's not a moron.

Also she seems to be a genuinely open person so this is one of the few that I don't think will have any problems with the Millenials, and that can be a huge plus for her. To say nothing of the fact that an open nature goes a long way to helping your social game.

Part of me is a bit worried that Rachel is just here for the adventure, since she seems to be a bit of an adrenalin junky (not that there's anything wrong with that....hell I used to jump out of perfectly good airplanes for kicks), or to represent (who care if you're the first female Pacific Islander to win?). But I still get the vibe that Rachel brings some shit to the table.

She knows what she's going to be facing from a physical standpoint, and seems quite capable of handling it. Plus I think she's gonna have a social game that people are going to be envious of.

Having said that, she'll probably be an annoying wing-nut fifteen seconds into the premiere episode. That happens some times with these first impressions pieces. Hey when you just read the profile and don't watch any video you run that risk.

But again, I get a vibe. Apparently Rachel hasn't had the easiest life in the world, and that can be a benefit to her. On the one hand it obviously keeps her driven, but having a good sob story to share with people out there can go a LONG way to helping your game. Now I don't know that Rachel would stoop to that level (but I would heartily applaud her if she did), but just a bit of relating her past to her fellow tribe mates can have an effect.

Come back to Exile Island with me. Sally had hooked up with Misty and thought they'd roped in Austin and Nick. Wrong-O! Misty got the boot and Sally was next to go for La Mina. Or was she? Just sitting at camp yakking with Austin, Sally mentioned how she'd gotten divorced and was slightly ostracized by her folks because of it. Austin felt a bit of pity for her and when La Mina went to Tribal Council again, Austin had convinced Terry and Nick to boot Ruth and Sally stuck around. In a real irony, she lasted in the game longer than Austin did. Not much longer, but she beat his placement.

So? Have a good sob story and don't be afraid to share it because it can benefit your game. Don't disappoint me Rachel!

Meet Sunday
