So You Think You Can Dance: A Talented Yet Dull Top 20 - Here's The Initial Rankings
Commentary by RTVC Senior Staff Writer Joseph Braverman

What is he thinking?
It’s great to be back for another season of So You Think You Can Dance, but while I look forward to providing you my usual fare of rankings articles, I can’t say I’m very enthused by the season thus far.
Look, I get the judges want talented artists, but I feel like I’ve seen better in this department in seasons past.
But what’s even worse is the lack of interesting personalities.
If Cyrus – ugh, don’t get me started on this overrated popper – happens to be the best personality of Season Nine, we are in for a world of trouble.
What’s a good remedy for this quandary, you ask? Quite simple: give me some bloody All-Stars!
Got thoughts? Post them at the end.
If we’re being completely honest here, I have to acknowledge that the reason for my skepticism of Season Nine is that the best personalities/dancers with the best auditions were cut in Vegas.
Did Danielle Dominguez – the quirky girl who seemed like the second coming of Sonya Tayeh – really need to be given the axe after her injury?
Why make Jason Alexander wait until Green Mile to be given the heave-ho when he was just as injured?
I truly believe Danielle was the most talented female dancer of the season, and it’s a good thing there is going to be a female winner this season because not a lot of the girls have really shined in my eyes.
In any other year, this would be a boy’s to lose, but because of the new rule changes – which I may or may not yet warm up to – it looks like there’ll be two winners of the opposite sex who’ll be crowned “America’s Favorite Dancers.”
Also, why did Nigel so swiftly cut Bree Hafen in only the second round?
From the brief clip I saw, she was pretty impressive. Her audition blew me away by its finesse and maturity, and I thought she would be a great addition to the season, with or without her adorable little daughter to fuel the voting lines.
And then Nigel and Co. really did a number by cutting Adrian Lee. Who in their right mind would cut Adrian Lee and put an annoying basket-case like Nick Bloxsom-Carter in the Top 20?
