So You Think You Can Dance: Technique, Performance, Likeability - Here's How They Rate
Commentary and Recap by RTVC Staff Writer Jillian Domings
July 2, 2009
This Wednesday on So You Think You Can Dance, the top 14 dancers took the stage for America's votes. The show opens a bit differently than normal. We see a brief montage covering the auditions up until this point. Then it cuts to Cat and her signature intro.

The contestants are then introduced one by one and for the first time, there really isn't one particular dancer who stands out. I think they all hold their own for the most part.

Joining Nigel and Mary on the judging panel this week is Mia Michaels who is, at least to me, a true genius in the dance world. I have never met a Mia Michaels dance that I didn't like!

Cat has some fun with Mia by asking her if her opinion of any dancer has changed over the past few weeks. Mia is brief but happily states that her opinion of one certain dancer has changed for the better. Clearly, we all know who she is talking about.

This week, the contestants will be talking about their experience on the show so far. Basically, they will be recapping each routine they have learned over the past few weeks. Boring!

Mia's favorite dancer will begin the night.

Jeanette & Brandon- Hush Hush by The Pussycat Dolls
This week, Jeanette and Brandon will be dancing a Cha Cha choreographed by Jean Marc and France Genereux. Poor Jeanette and Brandon, this is their third ballroom dance over the past four weeks- so far they've done Quickstep, Disco and now Cha Cha. I really can't wait until we get to see Brandon do Contemporary.

Their dance this week, as usual, goes fantastically well. I honestly think that no other couple can touch them at this point. Their movements were sharp, quick, and perfectly executed.

Jeanette really stole the show with this routine. Her facial expressions were perfect and she really was one hot mama. Brandon on the other hand looked just slightly out of his element. He performed the routine adequately but in my opinion, he looked down at the ground a little too much. Overall though, a homerun.

Technique- 8
Performance- 8
Likeability- 8.5
Total- 24.5 out of 30

Nigel tells the couple this is the best Cha Cha he's seen on the show and that Brandon's feet were very articulated. Mary says Jeanette made the steps look exciting and that Brandon can do everything that is thrown at him. She also gives them two first class tickets on the Hot Tamale Train. Mia starts out with Brandon saying that dance teachers in general are always toughest on the most talented dancers and that Brandon has a lot of potential. I can definitely say that Mia's comment is the truth. I've heard many dance teachers throughout my years as a dancer say that you should only be worried when a teacher starts to ignore you. Mia also tells Jeanette that she has been on fire since day one.

Kayla & Kupono- Eyes on Fire by Blue Foundation
This week, Kayla and Kupono.....
