The fans said no.
This week on So You Think You Can Dance, the remaining ten dancers performed two pieces with brand new partners.
In addition, everyone danced solos. After Tuesday night’s performance show, the viewers were given complete control to vote for their favorite individual dancers. Tonight, the guy and girl with the lowest number of votes will be sent home.
Here’s a reminder of what the couples danced:
Noelle and Ryan
Hip Hop – dancing in suits around a desk
Smooth Waltz – pretty, and pretty sleepy
Ashleigh and Legacy
Contemporary – athleticism and high flying tricks
Hip Hop – too much cape, not enough dancing
Kathryn and Nathan
Broadway – ‘White Christmas’ meets SYTYCD
Rumba – Nathan grows up and seduces Kathryn – sort of
Ellenore and Jakob
Quickstep – dance competition contestants
Contemporary – dark, black love from Sonya
Mollee and Russell
Lyrical Jazz – Mollee as Baby in ‘Dirty Dancing’
Jive – big smiles and no disaster
I predicted that Kathryn, Noelle and Ashleigh would be the bottom three girls, and that Ryan, Nathan and Legacy would be the bottom three guys. However, this week we’re only going to be told the bottom two, rather than the bottom three. In that case, I put Kathryn and Noelle in the bottom for the girls, and Ryan and Nathan for the guys.
Then as for who will be going home, my guess is that it will be Ryan for the guys. The girls are a little tougher to predict. My reasoning for putting Kathryn and Noelle in the bottom two is that I think they’re too similar, and therefore their votes are being split by the viewers. Using this logic, it really could be either of them going home. If I had to choose, I’d pick Noelle, simply because she was paired with Ryan.
Tonight’s show begins with Cat, dressed in one of the most unique dresses I have ever seen. It looks like she’s wearing a black bra and a black slip, and then put some sort of flesh colored wide band around her midsection and peeking out from underneath the slip. It’s actually much more intriguing and much sexier than I make it sound. Her hair is down, rumpled, and bedheadish, which I guess matches the dress.
The group number is set to Billy Joel’s “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me.” Everyone is dressed in black, with lots of leather. The guys are wearing black pants and black leather vests and jackets. The girls are wearing black leather dresses, skirts, pants, bustiers, jackets and vests. Everyone has weird black makeup around their eyes. They’re all dancing around fences, so it comes across as a little ‘West Side Story’ meets naughty Sandy from ‘Grease.’
