The Amazing Race 13: Teams To Hate And Teams To Love

It is hard to believe so much time has passed since TK and Rachel won the last season of TAR. I have never understood why TAR gets no love. The show wins Emmy's and it gets treated like a red headed step child. Did I mention that TAR won another Emmy this year. That makes six Emmy's in a row. Can we please get a little love for my favorite reality show?
While we are on the subject of Emmy's, might I mention that my man Phil was robbed. That Emmy had his name written all over it. I can't believe he didn't even get a nomination. Tom Bergeron gets one but not Phil. Oh well, at least he did not have to embarrass himself as one of the hosts at the Emmy's. I guess we should be thankful for that.
Another thing we can be thankful for is this season. I have been looking forward to tonight and it did not fail to deliver. I already have a few favorites, an obvious first to go, and a team to hate.
As always, the season starts off with an introduction to our eleven teams. It looks like we could have a good group of racers. Here are the eleven teams:
Toni and Dallas: mother and son team
Nick and Star: Brother and sister team
Ken and Tina: separated couple
Aya and Ty: long distance dating couple
Marissa and Brooke: Southern Belle friends
Andrew and Dan: frat brothers
Anthony and Stephanie: dating couple
Anita and Arthur: married beekeepers
Kelly and Christy: recently divorced friends
Terence and Sarah: newly dating couple
Mark and Bill: comic book geek friends
As of now, I have no real favorites but there are a couple of interesting teams that I could see becoming favorites. I can't really see the beekeepers going to far. They are bit flaky and the other teams seem out for blood.
This season we are starting out in LA. The teams are being brought to the local stadium in classic cars. Phil is there to meet the teams and welcome them. He tells us there will be eleven legs with eight elimination legs. The teams are told their first clue is on the top of their luggage at the top of the steps. Phil tells the teams on his go they are to run up the stairs and the race will begin. With a drop of the hand, the race begins and the racers take off up the stairs. Teams grab their clues and find out their first destination is Salvador, Brazil. There are only two flights the racers can take so the race to the airport begins. Most of the teams have no trouble getting out of the parking lot and the race is on. In the cars, teams start actually reading the clues and realize that the American flight is going to be faster so all the teams want to be on that flight.
The teams begin to arrive at the airport and grab shuttles to the airport. One of the main things you must remember about the race is that you must read the clue and do exactly what they say. It disturbs me a little that so many teams messed up on the first clue. Aja and Ty are the first to arrive at the airport. They head to the American counter. Unfortunately for them, they didn't read the clue. The clue said to go to the marked counter and they just went to the first American counter that they saw. While they waited in the wrong line, Mark and Bill went to the correct line and get the first tickets on the American flight. Others begin to arrive at the counter but it takes them a few minutes to realize they are all at the wrong counter. Ken and Tina get the second set of tickets on the American flight. Terrence and Sarah, Nick and Star, Aja and Ty, and Kelly and Christy all get tickets on the first flight. This could have given them quite an advantage over the others since the American flight was supposed to leave three hours before the United flight. Luckily for the United racers, the American flight was delayed and ends up being only about an hour and a half ahead.
