Three weeks in a row.
Previously on The Amazing Race 16, teams went to battle in a World War I challenge, which led Jordan and Jeff to their own battle.
Despite their speed bump along they way, they managed to survive.
Louie and Michael chose to u-turn an injured Joe and his partner Heidi.
The extra challenge proved to be more than Joe and Heidi could handle, and they were eliminated from the race.
We rejoin the seven remaining teams in France, following the fifth pit stop. Louie and Michael are the first to depart, at 7:47 a.m. They are told to drive 37 miles to the city of Reims, France. There, they are to find a statue of Joan of Arc, where a street musician playing a singing sword holds their next clue.
Second to depart are Steve and Allie, at 8:04. Allie is unable to read the map in the car, always a good thing for contestants to practice before going on a show such as this.
Jet and Cord depart in third place at 8:13. Cord also seems to be map challenged, and can’t figure anything out. At 8:17, Dan and Jordan leave in fourth place, followed by Carol and Brandy at 8:39. Brent and Caite are in sixth place at 9:48.
Louie and Michael arrive in the city, as do Steve and Allie. Steve and Allie have a hard time finding people who speak English. When Dan and Jordan arrive, they are lucky enough to find a lady who understands them, and directs them to the statue. She tells them it’s by the cathedral, but the brothers take this to mean she’s pointing them to the “Cathy Drone,” whatever that might be. Finally, one of them figures out that she means a cathedral.
Steve and Allie find a pedestrian to lead them, and get to the musician and clue in first place. They are given a cork, which reads “Champagne LeClerc Briant” on the top. The pedestrian tells them that this champagne is made in Epernay.
Louie and Michael go to the office of tourism, and ask them where the statue is. They give them directions, and the guys are on their way. Jet and Cord arrive at the statue and get their cork in second place. Louie and Michael get there seconds later.
Jet tells us that he knows there is a town down the road that is named Champagne, so the two head there, certain that this is where they’re supposed to go.
Dan and Jordan arrive at the statue in fourth place, and head to the office of tourism. There, they find Louie and Michael. The two teams are told where to go on the map, and both drive away.
Carol and Brandy are in fifth place, get their clue, and run off yelling “I want some champagne!”
In last place at 10:28, Jordan and Jeff.....
