The Mole
I Only Have to Stay Black and Die
Episode One
Recap by Logan Huffman
June 10,2008
Welcome to a brand new season of 'The Mole'. Our new host, Jon Kelley welcomes us to the show, laying out the background of the show for us: 12 players will compete in challenges. But one player is The Mole, who objective is to sabotage the missions and ensure that the group earns as little money as possible in their missions. Each week, the players will take a quiz, and the player with the lowest score will be executed; immediately eliminated from the game.
The twelve contestants are:
Liz- A sixty-year old retiree from Whitefish, Montana
Marcie- A thirty-one year old stay-at-home mom from Corona, California
Alex- A thirty-one year old musician from Haverford, Pennsylvania
Craig- A thirty year old graphic designer from San Diego
Ali- A twenty-four year old model from St. Louis, Missouri
Bobby- A twenty-five year old restaurant manager from Philadelphia
Mark- A 42 year old high school history teacher/soccer coach from Mukwonago, Wisconsin
Nicole- A thirty-three year old OBGYN doctor from Chicago
Clay- A thirty-two year old criminal litigation attorney from Philadelphia
Kristen- A thirty-five year old neuroscientist from Santa Monica, California
Paul- A twenty-nine year old utility worker from Yonkers, New York
Victoria- A twenty-six year old retail manager from Bishop, Texas
We begin this season's quest in Los Angeles, Chile, atop of a giant waterfall. The vans pull up to the waterfall now, and the players have already met, which means that The Mole's job begins now. Jon introduces himself to everyone, and announces the name of the waterfall they are on top of, but I couldn't even begin to type it out.
Handing out secret ballots, Jon asks the group that based on their first impressions, who do they think The Mole is? Everyone takes a card, and quickly circles their choice. Jon announces that the person most suspected of being The Mole is…Marcie.
Jon calls Marcie over to his side. He asks her how she feels about them already thinking she is The Mole, and she says that it is a good thing. Marcie tells us that she was happy when Jon revealed that the other players think she is The Mole, because that's what you want to make everyone think.
Putting everyone's suspicions to the test, Jon says that for the next twenty-four hours, Marcie will be making all of the decisions for the group, including tonight's mission. John tells us that he definitely thinks Marcie could be The Mole, which is scary, because she is in a prime position to sabotage.
