The Mole
I'm Going To Kill You While You Sleep
Episode Two
Recap by Logan Huffman
June 12,2008
Previously on 'The Mole', 12 players arrived in South America to begin their quest to discover who 'The Mole' is, and win a cash prize. The group immediately suspected Marcie of being The Mole. The players competed in their first mission, trying to grab bags that may be filled with money as they went over a giant waterfall. Nicole alienated the group, but their hatred of her ending up earning her an exemption. At the first execution, the group was shocked as their prime suspect for The Mole, Marcie, became the first player executed from the game. Who will be executed tonight?
Paul begins tonight's episode by telling us that Marcie leaving the game changes his whole game, as they had a coalition and were supposed to stick it out until the end. Liz tells us that they are all disappointed about Nicole's reward for bad behavior, and the one thing left out of her esteemed education was manners. Craig says that he has three goals in the game at this point: not to soil himself, which he has accomplished so far, not to embarrass his family, which he is a little iffy on, and to be the first player executed, which he has also accomplished; he adds that he has about a two-and-a-half out of three, which isn't bad.
Jon welcomes us and the players to the capital city of Chile, Santiago, and to the location of the mission, Metropolitan Park. Jon welcomes Nicole back to the group, as she tells us that after the first execution, she decided to change her strategy, opting to be a little more quiet and stealthy. Jon asks Paul if he is happy to have Nicole back. He responds with, "Not quite", but adds that he will see after today. Nicole tells us that she is taller than Paul, and she could take him if she had to.
Jon tells the group to split into two groups: 9 people who are goal oriented, and 2 people who view life as an uphill battle. Craig and Liz really want to be in the uphill battle group. Mark tells us that everyone but Craig and Liz seemed to know what was going on, as it was obviously going to be something with going uphill. Nicole suggests that letting the more athletic Kristen and Mark be in the uphill battle group would be best. Paul takes control and has the group vote on who wants Kristen and Mark to do the uphill battle.
The majority vote for Mark and Kristen, and Jon hopes that the mission goes better than the selection just did. Jon tells the players that today's mission is a race to the summit, where a giant statue of the Virgin Mary is. Liz looks less than thrilled, as Jon observantly points out.
Jon unveils a tandem bicycle, which Kristen and Mark will be using to get to the top of the hill. The rest of the group will be riding to the top in a gondola, which only takes about ten minutes to reach the summit. If the goal oriented team beats Kristen and Mark, the group will add $35,000 to the pot.
