The Voice Recap: Christina Crowns Herself The Voice Recap and Commentary by RTVC Staff Writer Sharon-anne Osenenko May 1, 2012
It’s a solid performance, but I’m not sure it’s memorable enough to get him past Katrina.
Carson says “What a way to get the show started!” Quit editorializing and host the show.
Blake says he’s glad he doesn’t know the song, because he’d like this version better. How does he know that?
Christina tells us that she is familiar with the song and she had cleared it for the show early on for Moses. Because the whole show is about her.
She wants to know if Adam taught him his dance moves, but Adam tells us he can’t dance, which I don’t doubt.
Carson tries to hand it over to Cee Lo, but Christina throws a temper tantrum because she was not done, dammit.
What she wanted to say was that if this doesn’t work out, he and Adam can start a Britney Spears cover band. Ouch.
Cee Lo puts on his Godfather voice, to say “Tony Lucca, your performance pleases me” then he turns back into Cee Lo to tell us that he really liked it.
Adam can’t get the girls to stop screaming long enough for him to talk to Tony. Sheesh. Rockstar problems.
Adam says that Tony chose the perfect song for the perfect moment and he killed it.
Erin Willet is up next. Blake says this is the first time she’s doing something truly original as far as the arrangement goes.
She’s singing Without You. Blake thinks it’s a smart song choice.
We see Erin’s mom and brother, and then some home video footage of little Erin singing on a stage at a school talent show or something. Cute.
Blake reminds her that this could be her last performance on the show. No pressure.
The people in the pits have red lights that they’re waving. Way to get the audience involved.
The performance is okay. It just sounds too big, too contrived. I like the contestants to reinterpret songs, usually, but this one bugged me.
I’m sure none of the coaches will agree. Erin is emotional at the end and Carson asks her if she’s okay before he moves on to talk to the coaches.
Christina said her song was unique and original and she’s proud of her. Not that she had anything to do with it.
Cee Lo thinks the show needs moments like that. Where they sing songs and stuff, I guess. He says he’s just enjoying himself tonight and everyone is doing such a great job.
