Tony demands to be heard, and trust me, I hear loud and clear and love what I listen to most of the time.
And then there is Juliet Simms, the girl who I never noticed until it was too late.
She kicked me off my feet at the live rounds, serving up the single best version of The Police’s “Roxanne” that I ever heard.
Her next two consecutive songs all managed to move me in different ways. I appreciated her vulnerable take on Steven Tyler’s “Crying,” and even more so loved her vigor and intensity with James Brown’s legendary “This is a Man’s Man’s Man’s World.”
This girl deserves to win, not just for her consistency, but the way she uses her gravelly voice to highlight some poignant emotion in every song that she sings.
I sure hope by this time next week, we’ll all be talking about how amazing it is that a girl one on The Voice, especially one as talented as Juliet Simms.
The Voice is only two seasons in, so I’m going to withhold comparing the inaugural season and this current season until Season Three comes around and I’ve pondered it some more.
I hated the blind auditions last season but loved them this year.
I thought the live rounds were stronger last year, but the battle rounds were pretty much even.
The group of contestants this season was interesting, but the more eclectic ones left the competition too soon while the commonplace contestants who weren’t very unique managed to stick around a lot longer.
I’m not sure it is a good idea for the judges to have so much control. Then again, America has been putting Chris Mann through, so we are left with a Catch-22.
Hopefully next season more of the kinks will be worked out.

This show has something, but it does lack the greatness factor of idol.
